I have noticed a couple times when I get on the throttle in say 2nd or 3rd gear and the RPM's are around 8000 that the power cuts off.
Basically I whack the throttle open and get the RPM's up. Then right about the time I go to shift, the power cuts out.
Is this a limiter or am I asking for to many RPM's even though I am not red lining it?
This would not be good if you wanted to drag it down the 1/4 mile.
Any insight would be appeciated. TIA.

From here, it sounds like the rev limiter, but it sounds like it is kicking in too early.
You're still under warranty, right?

yes, still under warranty. Rev limiter....anyway to override it?

Maybe it is time to take my bike in for a look over. Make sure the rev limiter is acting correctly.

That's what I was implying. :bigok:

yeah, I just hate taking it to the stealership. You never know how it is going to come back from them lol :annoy:
Thank you for your reply Red. :thanks:

Ok so it seems that this bike is faster then the tach lol.
Someone more knowledgable then me suggested that I take up the RPM's slowly and see if it still cuts out early. It did not, it did not hit the rev limiter until 10000 RPM's like it should. So then I let the RPM's back down and whacked the throttle.....cut out at 8500 RPM's.
So it seems that on WOT the bike will reach 10000 RPM's before the tach does. Another more knowledgable person then I gave me instructions on how to reset the tach via the clock controls on the dash.
Looks as though this is resolved now. :thanks:

If you look at the dyno charts for the 1250 bandit on the holeshot website and also at the akropovic site , they both show a pronounced dip at about 8k then pick back up. Could this be what is happening with your bike? It seems to be programmed in I guess, I've never noticed it but I rarely rev that high as i am moving right along at 7k

no, it is a complete power cut from the limiter. it has only happened 3 times and all 3 times I was really on the throttle.
