This thread is way old, but what the heck.
I was looking at an 06 FZ1 but when I got to sit on it, it didn't work for my buggered knee. It was right at the point of causing pain. I looked at the design and saw the gearshift rod went thru a hole in the frame?!?!? So i knew that there would be no way to adjust it without significant mucking about. Shame, it's a nice looking bike. I did sit on an 05 FZ1 and that was fine for seating position, in comparisom.
Sitting on the 07 Bandit was different, there was just enough room to not stress the old joint and that was with the seat in the low position. Since then I have added lowering links to the back end and raised the seat to further offset the knee bend and it works just fine... except it's quite a struggle to get it up on the centerstand now.
I did try the footpeg rotation, but it shortened the distance between the peg and the gearlever and I couldn't get my foot in comfortably, so I swapped them back.
I did get some bar risers which helped unload the hands, but as I have the ABS version, i had to get a new primary brake line (from HELusa) That helps things out. I'm too old for the leaned over position.
