Title: Removing front fairing
Post by: Ray Mooney on July 13, 2008, 01:27:18 PM
I'm trying to install the Stebel air horn. Anybody got a step-by-step for removing the front fairing on the 1250?

I'll grab my service manual when I'm at my parents house later today and post something more specific unless someone beats me to it.
from what I remember its not too hard to remove.  Just use allen wrenchs to remove all the screws securing the dash/windshield.
Then remove the big silver allen bolts on the side. and then under the front of the fairing theres a couple bolts/nuts to remove there.
Should come off pretty easy.  Putting the dash back on is kind of a pain unless you have small hands.

I've been thinking about putting one of those horns on the bandit as well, just never really sat down to figure out where I would fit it.

It's not hard at all. I have not done a write up here but just like Ash said remove all the bolts around the fairing. Start with the two that hold the console in and get that puppy (guages) out. Remove the rest around the fairing and inside where the gauges use to be. Then just look carefully where it is still attached and remove those bolts/screws. Seriously after you get the gauges out and remove the obvious bolts the hidden ones will be easy to spot. You can do it.
