Rusting Fuel Tank - Help
« on: July 29, 2012, 03:01:19 PM »
Hi, It's a couple of years since I've been on. I have a question, I have an 07 Bandit 1250 and last year didn't do much riding due to some medical issues but I had my bike started and filled up with fuel and put away. This year I can't get the  bike to fire up and today I finally drained the gas takn and found it had rust inside and the fuel cap had corossion. Had anyone noted any problems with their tank? I also think it may have somethng to do with the Ethonol in the gas since I also had starting problem with my other 2 bikes.

Thanks,
 Jim

i had to treat my b600 because it sat for a few years. life gets in the way of fun sometimes.

anyway, got some POR-15 (directly from them - had a shipping issue, their CS ROCKS btw!!) and the job is not that hard. it's a little time intensive but not too bad, it can be messy. wear gloves and old clothes or coveralls or whatever.
it's always an adventure
