Title: Starting Issues
Post by: PBBandit on September 06, 2009, 08:48:49 PM
Just joined up and am a proud 1250 owner and a but embarrased about my first forum post.  :clubme: , For some reason after I installed my GPS mount/unit my starter does not seem to want to work. When I turn on the bike I hear the fuel pump, when I press the starter I see my lights flicker , but I can only start it by bypassing the relay (touching them with a screwdriver across the top).  :wtf:  Is this a result of disconnecting the battery?

Oh yeah and I have checked the fuse on the starter relay it's good  , and in fuse box designated for the starter it's good. I have disconnect the sidestand switch. Didn't work.  :yikes:  Do I need a new relay?

Figured it out folks, the GPS has a mount that uses the clutch resevoir clamp and the angle I had it at did not allow the clutch switch to engage fully. Readjusted and voila...  :bouncy:  off and running.

Finally...  :welcome: to the site.

i pulled a similar boo-boo when I mounted my dl1000 handguards , the clutch pivot pin/bolt wasn't seated all the way in and the slight misalignment was all it took for the safety switch to not release
