I've had further thoughts about the DL650 handguards and ordered a LH guard from the DL1000 along with the LH pivot bolt and nut. This is because the DL650 has a cable-operated clutch and so has a slightly different lever arrangement. The DL650 item will still fit but I was uneasy about using a bolt which didn't have the correct length shoulder.
The other thing I discovered is that the handguards will foul the fairing slightly on the S model. I was recommended some GenMar bar risers to get round this problem. I ordered them but never got round to fitting them. In the meantime, I've taken the handguards off until I get time to sort out the risers. Knowing me, I might never find time to do it.
I've also fitted a Givi screen. I had an MRA Vario but I think I am a bit too tall for it though others have reported that it works well for them.
I also have the fairing lowers, rad guard, tank guard, hugger, fenda extenda, Datatool S4 alarm, Suzuki rack and colour-coded box with backrest. With hindsight, I would replace the Suzuki box with a Givi E52 box and forget the backrest. The Givi box is 52 litres and takes two full-face helmets while the Suzuki box is 49 litres and two helmets don't quite fit. I'd keep the Suzuki rack as it gives good grab points for the pillion but since the box is a bit closer to the seat than on the Givi rack, the backrest pushes the pillion passenger closer to the rider.
Just a few thoughts for consideration. Other than that the Bandit is a great bike and excellent value for money. Go easy on it and I trust that it will make you grin from ear from ear.
