Title: Does anybody know where to get Teflon chain lube in the UK?
Post by: SteelD on April 26, 2007, 11:30:29 AM
I want to try this stuff (http://www.webbikeworld.com/t2/motorcycle-chain-lube/dupont-teflon-chain-lube.htm) but I can't find a distributor in the UK. Any ideas?

Thanks

Did you try contacting Dupont to see if they'll give you who their UK distributors/retail sources are?

DuPont Performance Lubricants contact site (http://www.performancelubricant.dupont.com/dp_contact.html)

I'll try that though I have little faith in enquiry forms like this and especially if they see the customer as being overseas.

Just tried it and the enquiry form is poorly programmed which is surprising for such a large company. It does annoy me that many companies still view a web site as an afterthought where they shouldn't bother too much.

Like I predicted - no reply. Why do so many companies bother with Contact Us pages on their website if they don't bother to respond?  :annoy:

Do you have big home-improvement/hardware chain stores in the UK? (I saw them when I was in France, like Leroy Merlin - which wasn't a very French sounding name for a store.)

I bought my DuPont teflon spray lube from one of those type of stores (Lowe's) here in the States.

We have a few stores with names like Homebase and B&Q over here but I don't recall seeing DuPont products in those apart from the Teflon they apply to cooking utensils. I'll make a point of looking the next time I am in there.

In our stores, I've found it in the tool dept, on the shelf near WD-40 and the like. Seems to either move fast, or I go there looking for it when they're out of stock for some other reason. Took me several tries before I got there when they had it.

If it gets to be a real problem let me know... you can have mine for just shipping costs.  I hate the stuff.   :stir:

txbanditrydr, why do you hate it?  Did it not perform very well, or was it a mess to put on?

I like the looks of it (not the can the reviews and what little I can tell about it from that) and have thought about buying some.

Try online ordering from http://www.midwayautosupply.com/t-shipping.aspx, they ship international.

I found it at Lowe's.  Not very expensive, so I bought two cans.  I've been running it for some time now, and I really can't tell that its any better, or any worse.  So far it seems to live up to the reviews.  Dries quick and the chain doesn't make any noise, so I have to assume it's doing it's job.  I'll know as time progresses I suppose.

Sorry for the slow response... didn't see this until now.  I didn't have a very good experience with it.  The vast majority love this stuff but I switched back to gear oil / ATF after about 500 miles.  More info posted BY CLICKING HERE (http://forums.banditalley.net/index.php?topic=3916.0)

BTW.... I already found someone to pawn the left over on to...    :trustme:

I got more wear on my chain in 500 miles with that stuff than all the rest of the miles put together.... in case you're wondering - that's 47,000 miles on the OEM (let me repeat... OEM) chain - with 46,500 of it using gear oil.

But hey - I'm the lone dissenter on this stuff... don't believe everything you read on the Internet....
