I just put my new electric air horn on the bike, it's as brilliant as I'd hoped. Only took about 2 hours, too.

Tomorrow I'm thinking about just riding in peoples blind spots so I can give em a cardiac! (this may be bad karma)

You guys have gotta get one of these, it's giving me 120db, 2ft diagonally from the front of the bike. And it fair dinkum sounds like a truck.

txbanditrydr from the main forum posted a great write-up that was very helpful
giving me a visual, shout out to txbanditrydr. The install was about 10 times easier than I'd expected.

If you get one, you must get the the newer Nautilus Compact, since it's way smaller than the previous model, about a 1/2 inch more clearance where it matters.

no-one's even tried to run me over all day! what's wrong with these people.

One bloke was just over the lines next to me, but we were stopped at the lights so I gave him a pass. I'm seriously thinking of going up the Hume from liverpool east. That should do the trick.

And it sounds more like a train than a truck like I said. I'd love to hear it going off past me from the side of the road.

20 years ago when I lived in LA I installed a twin air horn with lock button on my 86 Suzuki GS650. My commute was 100 miles a day, 20% of it cutting traffic. Some people would deliberately start moving their cars in way so I finally got a white helmet and would simply lock the horn down and the traffic would part like the red sea, worked really great. People would curse and scream when they noticed I wasn’t an official but it only would last a second for each car as you passed.

haha nice. I plan at some point to own a white bike, with a white helmet. our MC cops ride R1100RT's etc. People definitely notice them every time, and you only see them like 3 times a year.

Don't forget the sticker on the front that says

Another good horn, to use is the orginal type used in the eh and hr holdens, they have an adjustable tone.      adjust the screw out, and it sounds like a Mack truck. now that gets some attension But you do need a faired bike they are a tad bulky, and unsightly. But cheap But along with all things good, don't forget to wire the sucker up along with most aftermarket horns via a relay, or you may find the horn switch will not last to long.

The only thing I forgot to mention was that the compressor on the air horn apparently used enough current to put a strain on the GS650G's generator and I went through two re-wound stators (expensive). That was 20 years ago, now on LA freeways you have to cut traffic wherever you go. Only now when I go visit my poor relatives there I stay in line until a big fat Harley (ship anchor) comes by cutting traffic with his beach bars and hallow exhaust blasting and get in right behind him. For some reason people in cars really fear loud Harleys driven by lather clad bald guys and just make room. I know because if I try it on my sleek B12 they see me coming and squeeze the lane.
