My Drag Racing Season
« on: February 20, 2008, 01:15:48 AM »
Hi
Here is a quick run down of how my Drag Racing season has gone so far.

Southern Nat's held in Christchurch on 17th of Nov 07....I won it and got 150 points.

Nelson Pro/Am held in Motueka on 24th of Nov 07.....got 60 points as we didn't have a full field.

Central Nat's held in Masterton on 1st of Dec 07.... won it but only got 60 points..didn't have full field.

Summer Nat's held in Taupo on 2nd of Jan 08....knocked out in 1/4 final round..got 40 points.

NZ Nat's held in Masterton 2nd of Feb 08....knock out in 1/4 final round ...got 40 points.

So just the final round to be held at Meremere on 1st March 08.

With my entry and qualifying points added to my points from all the rounds I have an unbeatable tally of 420. The nearest rider only has 210 so I have effectively won the NZ Championship..Mod' Bike...for the third year in a row.
This is all done on a stock standard 2004 GS1200SS. My best times are 11.585 at 114mph.
So I anit fast but I am consistent.
Here is my bike.

This Sunday I am representing NZ in the TransTasman Challenge.

Then the weekend after it is the NZ Championship final.

This is my last season racing the GS1200SS. After winning 3 years in a row I think it is time to step up and race in our Comp Bike class.
I will be racing my RD400 Drag bike but the GS1200SS will be brought out for the odd meeting.
Thanks
Richard

Hi
Well I,m back from the Trans Tasman Challenge and it was unfortunately a bit of a washout.
We only got two rounds of racing in a the Taupo meeting last weekend before the rain came down.
I won both my races and was feeling real good and hungry for more wins.
This weekend just gone we were to have finished the Challenge by racing at the Northern Nationals at Meremere in Auckland. Well the weather was even wetter the before. We didn't even get to put our leathers on. No racing at all for the whole two days.
So in the end we spent most of our time bench racing and having a few cold ones.
The Aussies who came over were a great bunch of guys and girls. Real top fellas and very knowledgeable. Their bikes looked so professionally turned out it sort of put us Kiwi's to shame.
Still thats sort of the good thing about this Challenge. It gives both teams an incentive to get better at what we do.
So apart from a lack of racing and an abundance of rain I hope our Aussies friends enjoyed being here as much as we enjoyed haveing them here.
