:congrats: That's the first pic I've seen of an SS outside Japan!

Is it as much like a 1G B12 as it looks? (different bodywork and twin rear shocks)

Hi
Yes...but the other rider red lighted...lucky me
They have been selling them in NZ for about 1 year now...maybe they couldnt sell them in Japan.
Dont know what a  1G B12  looks like so cant tell you anything.
We dont get a workshop manual with these as it is in Japanese...so do you have any idea what manuel we could use.
Also what is the go with disconnecting so "retard" function I here about?
How do I tell if I have that on this model?
Got alot of questions but will read a bit more of the site first.
Thanks
Bstard

Here's what the 1G B12 looks like:

I'm guessing the engine is the same, the frame looks similar (except for the shocks and pass pegs), as does the airbox. Swingarm is different, obviously, since the Bandit is a monoshock, and the tank, seat, tail fairing and front fairing are obviously different. Looks like the SS has the same calipers as the 2G B12 (6 pot Tokico).

The retard function you speak of may or may not be present on the SS. On the B12, it is on Euro models and not North American models. Don't know about other world models though. here's the blurb about it from Fast Larry's Bandit FAQ:

Quote
The Bandit 1200 comes with an ignition retarder that is designed to reduce engine/exhaust noise in 2nd and 3rd gear to pass noise emission testing.  Some Bandit owners recommend disconnecting this wire to prevent the ignition from retarding in those gears (and losing power).  The connector is a two way red/black and green/blue wire near the front of the left side cover panel.  Note: This wire is only found on European Bandit models.
