Thanks Pete, I might pop over there and have a look, grab some pictures and show "the tall piece of pelican poop" (the eldest) what the DR650/Freewinds are all about.

He's seen a couple and doesn't mind them - they're not as cool as a VFR400 - but as I told him, if he wants to ride for more than half an hour at a time forget the crotch rockets.

Dead serious, Mick. On a tight twisty road, the DR650 can shame 'real' sportbikes, and it's so effortless to do it. (As long as you aren't running serious knobbies...)
The only thing missing is outright acceleration on straights, but any idiot can do that!

Yeah I know, a mate of mine rides a F650 and except for outright power doesn't loose much in the twisty bits - infact in the real tight stuff he's probably quicker than me.
