Batteries For the boys in OZ
« on: March 14, 2008, 09:29:40 PM »
Hey guys, sick of paying  :bs: prices.
Hmm me too, I priced a new YTX14-BS for the REX, in the past I've found some great prices at Supercheap.  Hmmmm $148;00, cough yah got to be kidding me, bike shops are cheaper.

But then I found this Guy, and he does postage OZ wide. So if ya can live without ya sled for a couple of days give him a try.http://allpurposebatteries.com.au/shop/index.php.
Paid $81.60 including GST and postage for YTX14-BS.

Thats as good if not better than mates rates at the shop.

And yes he has YTX12-BS for the bandits even cheaper.

Not meaning to sound like a smart ass, use search. there has been some differing life spans, I reckon its down to all of the factors listed here, usage, and type of, weather and its extremes, and how well its looked after, then theres brand of course.

The battery life span debate is like the "How long will my Tyres Last" and "How long will my chain last" debates - everyone has an opinion and different experiances.

I've got an 02 B12 and am now on my 2nd battery, replaced it last year.  I ride to work everyday, but it's only a really short distance (12km round trip), but I'm too lazy to ride a push bike or walk.

B6 is right, there are a shyte load of factors that effect battery life, and from what I've been told extremes of temperature really hurt the life span, for example here in sunny downtown Wagga in summer 35-38 is about the average daytime temp getting down to maybe 20 overnight.  In Winter though it's not uncommon for the temp to get as low as -5 over night and we're lucky if it reaches double figures during the day.

Oophs they ran out of YTX14-BS, lead acid batteries, so they sent me a gel cell instead, bummer ha, :clap: :clap: :clap:  No bullshyting around, no extra charge, just got on with it, and did it. BTW their price on gelcells aint to shabby either, I didn't even check them out, till they sent me one. YTX14-BS in gel for $88.
