If you have been reading any of my posts you know that Susie and I are Bicycle racing officials. One of the races we have been doing for the last 6 years is the Tour de Toona. This race is an International race and the largest in the US.
Here is a brief description of the race and how the Kiwi’s did.
Starting July 25th, 500 cyclists will participate in the 19th running of the Tour de Toona, a 422-mile race through six counties. The race begins and ends in Altoona, a city of about 45,000 in Blair County.
The volunteer-run race started as a one-day event that had a top-prize of a few hundred dollars. This year, professional and amateur cyclists will compete for $110,000 in prize money.
New Zealand cyclist Greg Henderson has finished the international Tour de Toona on a high in the US.
Henderson has won the final stage criterium in a tight bunch sprint finish.
The result means he wins the sprinters green jersey and finishes sixth in the overall general classification.
Fellow kiwi Glen Mitchell has finished 41st overall and third in the king of the mountain classification.
Congratulation Greg and Glen.
