My version of the rally....
« on: May 16, 2005, 01:52:19 AM »

Light turnout, due to weather, but, we had a great time, anyway.
As usual, it was cool to see the 'regulars', and the new people that show up are equally cool, and a great addition to the group!
Due to the rain, we didn't get as much riding in as possible, but I think everyone enjoyed the riding they did get in.

  No crashes or injuries......

Yes, I did go the emergency room saturday morning, but it was the only place I could find a doctor up in those hills at that time.
I arrived at the rally with some back problems, rode a bit weds, and thursday,  didn't ride friday, since it seemed to be getting worse.
On friday night I was having real trouble walking, and staying balanced.
I fell a couple of times walking around the campground Friday night,
(No, not drunk...) and thanks to the guys/gals who helped get my big arse off the ground!
On saturday morning, I went to the local emergency room, where they found both of my ears infected, which is enough to screw up your balance.    I picked up some prescription junk for the ears, and took it easy for the weekend.
(Not feeling much better, but got home OK...and now have an excuse to stay in bed and veg out for a couple of days....)

   Thanks for all your help!

If you're reading this, and didn't make the rally, please try to make it, next time.    This is a great group of people to ride with, and hang out with.

We need to get a game plan together for next year.....and mount some sort of group effort to stop the 'Robinson Raffle Bandits' from cleaning up at the raffle! :monkeymoon:

I guess it's only in the numbers.   IF you have a group of 6 people, buying a large amount of tickets, they're bound to win a lot of the stuff.
The only problem is, the damn Robinsons seem to grow as a rally presence each year.   Within a few years, I think it's gonna become a Robinson family reunion, or something.
Bike dealers, please don't sell any more bikes to Robinsons!
Thank God all of them weren't wearing those shirts!!!!

 :duh:

Thanks to all who donated items to the raffle.  We raised $305 to be split between the Air Fence Fund, and the local VFD.

I'll be knocking together an official rally page in a few days.
I'm working on the few pictures I have, and the little bit of video.
I'll post them when I can....

Thanks again to all, for the fun, camaraderie, and help!

I'll try to get an official count together, but I think  we were in the low 30's for attendance.
To me, numbers aren't that important, but whether everyone had fun, and got home in home piece, is........

 :beers:

(that's as close as I can get to a beer while on the meds....)

NC, it sucked not being able to ride, but I guess it was slightly better being 'crippled up' in a nice place, with buddies around, than sitting at home being miserable!
Josh, another Bandit rider showed up from your neck of the woods.

Hey Josh,

I'm not sure he's in Wilkesboro, but somewhere within  that 77/40 area in NC.    Damned if I can remember the town.
I think this is his member name.   Gary's03b12N.C.

The Robinson’s were so impressed with the way Susie handled her Harley on those mountain roads They wanted to try and ride a HOG also.

A least they found a HOG they can handle, even if one had to get behind and push...... :beers:

Maybe he's trying to get the HOG to do a SQUEALIE?

They’re from Kentucky!! When they say they rode a hog that’s exactly what they meant.
 :duh:
Susie suggested that they should have t-shirts made up that say, “Robinson Riders” on the front. And on the back a person sitting on a motorcycle looking at a map with a question mark over his head. The caption underneath would be, “It’s not the destination, It’s the ride.”
I think it should say,"It's not the destination or the ride. It's all the loot we bring back from the raffle".

Maybe if you give them tickets with no numbers on them next year!!!!!!!!!

I had a great time at Boss 05. Apologies for the late post.

I don't know if it is the type of person that buys a Bandit or what, but everyone was great.

Pete. Great job. Without you it would not have happened, but that is not enough. Even when you were in pain and we had to literally pick you up, you were thinking of us. Not fair to you, but that seems to be the kind of person you are.

To the Ohio guys I rode with most - Thanks.

Highway Goddess, great time riding with you, we made the best of a mediocre misty day, had a good meal and conversation, too.

All others, thanks for adding to the flavour (Canadian spelling). Without all of you this would not have been the same.

Here is a chuckle (for you, not me) Some of you may recall that I received the 'TRAILER TRASH" award for longest distance on a trailer. How appropriate -
On the way home I was trailering the bike thru Pittsburgh when the 'incident'happened.

The trailer was a frame trailer that I bought 20+ years ago. 17+ years ago, I bolted the plywood platform to the frame. Then I bolted the 3 rails to the plywood (not the frame).
17 years later the dryrot in the plywood took over and when I went around 'that' curve the 3 rails and attached bike separated from what was left of the rotten wood and the bike and rails skidded thru the intersection, actually passing me in the process.
Fortunately 2 Harley drivers didn't laugh too much (yet) and helped put the wreck back on the frame. Limped most of the way home.
Speedo, footpeg, turnsignal, all left side plastic, some right side plactic, new paint job (this winter), etc... eBay lives!
Done? Not by a long shot, Got back into Canada (barely, Niagara Falls is the border) and the front suspension of the truck broke.
Not a good day, should have ridden down.
The moral of the story is ride your bike, don't be trailer trash.

Final note. After my great time with you, I told my Sunday riding group to avoid the BRP and get off into the valleys as much as possible. They went down in early July and came back praising the roads. One guy said he can't ride in Ontaro any more.

See ya

Damn, Wayne.  That doesn't sound like a very fun ride back home.

Anyway, I enjoyed riding with you.  You certainly can make that B12 hustle.  Hope you have her back in shape for next year's rally.
