*UPDATE* Project B12 Pt. 2
« on: March 26, 2007, 12:07:49 PM »
Heya fellas. I got some new pics of my winter rebuild. I apologize for the delay, things have been crazy at work and scheduling the last bits of work have proved to be difficult. I dont have as much as I posted last time but a good amount has been done. On that note:

Couple more pics of the motor being gutted

Everything is ready for ceramic coat as soon as I receive the block back. It has been bored out for JE 1216cc pistons and I should be able to get everything to Performance Coatings this weekend
We have since turned to the frame. Its not completely apart yet, as we are still working out a bracket to hold the gauges and flyscreen. I dont have pictures of the install quite yet, but we custom welded a tab onto the front of the frame and put a stock Busa steering damper across the front of the forks. Will get pics of that asap. I need to upload some more pics tonight. We ground all un-needed tabs off the frame. Rear footpeg mounts/airbox tabs ect. My girlfriend says she doesn't mind that I am losing the ability to 2up because she gets to ride it lol
Some of the tabs have not been smoothed completely yet but you get the idea.

Grinding metal is loud and smells not-so-good

All tabs gone

Goodbye airbox tabs (switching to pods)

Clean view of the rear shock will be nice! (relocating the battery into the tail)

I realized as I posted this that there are a few pics of swapping out the top yoke plate and whatnot that I forgot to upload yesterday.<----Actually, i just realized that the first grinding pic shows my new bar setup. Its an LSL conversion plate for the Busa front end to convert it back to bars. Sporty feel and perfect for comfort and hooliganism   I'll try to get more pics up tonight. Bike is slated to be done the middle of April when my paycheck arrives eheh. All body pieces are away for paint. All that remains is ceramic/powder coat and paint, then reassambly. Ill take many pics and post them as I get them.

Thanks for reading!
Someday we'll look back on all this and plow into a parked car.

I just got a call from state patrol that saddens me. I have the white sticker on my frame because the bike has a salvage title, and i must have it in the same spot after my bike is done. white sticker on an all black bike will stick out like a sore thumb  :boohoo:  :crybaby:

Perhaps you can camoflage it with some black electrical tape when you're done and inspected?

I'd love to check it out sometime. I live on Camano Island and work in Everett at the little place that builds airplanes. Haven't checked out PNWriders.com (I'll have to check it out), but do pop in over at Sport-Touring.net pretty often and they have a large contingent of PNW riders there.

that white sticker thing really bites. But the bike looks like it's coming along nicely. I love the visible rear shock thing. Find it funny that so often we try to cover up all those 'working bits' when really...they are cool!
Can't wait to see the next up date (and become even more jealous/inspired). Thanks for sharing.

CAmano aint too bad at all. perhaps when its done ill skoot to everett. PNW is a good place, ive met a HUGE amount of good ppl there, and unlike other boards im on there are lots of rides and getogethers.

Yea i like the clean look of the frame. It looks so much better without passenger peg mounting tabs and whatnot. And it'll get better once my shock is mounted. I probably havent posted it yet but since someone already did it i can share. Im replacing my shock with one from an RC51, and the reservoir placement on it is really trick (faces up and back) so it'll look really cool to be able to see it. It might be a pain fabbing a place to rear-mount the battery but it'll be worth the effort methinks.

Im prolly gonna br 6.5k or so into this by the time its done so i hope it comes close to my mental picture!

Here are the pics of me swapping out the bars and such:

Pullin off the hand controls

New top plate looks slick! LSL makes the conversion

And with the bars on...

Big difference

No more FF. With a naked front end the Busa fender is just too huge. Im swapping it out for a much smaller GSX-R 1k fender

Voila! Busa front with Hooley bars  :beers:

I'll have more pics soon! :ninja:

Yea right. your garage is 24' x 24' larger than mine hahahah
My mechanic shares a shop with people who store their Porsche race cars there. LOTS of eye candy in the place.

And a project update. I finally got the engine/ exhaust/pistons off to ceramic coating and should have them back Wednesday. I took some before pics and ill post up the before/after pics as soon as i can. I also dropped off a disposable cam for them so hopefully ill get shots of them doing the work. Im gonna order new springs for my whole suspension tonight as i doubt even a professional tuner can tune a supsension sprung for 180lbs when im 260 lol. RaceTech saves the day. My body panels are almost painted. Tank still needs bodywork and paint but i should be picking that up on the 15th and have more pics.

So Close!!!
