... by going to a 170 60 17 tire in the rear? Stock is a 160.

I have my eyes on a set of Dunlop 208's. The front is a stock 120 width.

I have 11,000 miles on the OEM's and think it's time for a change.

Any opinions on the 208's??

I had 208s on my zx6 I liked them. They are a little soft but a lot of grip. Only last about 4000miles.

I've run the 208s on both wet and dry. I liked them,but also did'nt get the best of milage out of them. I have 208 GPs for the track,and I like them enough that I'll get another set for replacments.I ended up switching to Contis for the last 2 sets of street tires (cheaper),but think I might try Metzlers next. Just because everyone that runs them likes them,and I hav'nt tried them yet.

Guess what?!?! I failed my NYS Inspection! ...Rear tire has a wear ring down the center and the front is border-line due to cupping.

So the last thing I want to do is spend a few hundred dollars on rubber every 4000 miles.

I don't wheelie, holeshot, or do stoppies, and I've only been to an indicated 130mph once.

Will the Dunlop 220 Sport Tourers suit me? Any opinions?

I can get the stock size 160 & 120 shipped for a tad over $200.

I ordered the Dunlap 205s last week, I hope they last longer. I only got around 1000 miles on my last rear tire.

Try the Metzler Z6 Roadtec next time, Cant fault them in the wet or dry.
They stick like s**t to a blanket.

We used to run the Metzler MEs on the dragstrip, but as the bikes got longer and more horsepower, we hat to go to more of a race compound like the MT shoot out tire and the Shinko. The MTs are not round, and the Shinkos want last half a season, but they will hook up. I ran the Dunlap 207 race compound, and I would spin near the 1/4 mile at 135 mph. When the bike starts to fishtail at that speed, it will make you pucker.

So far I've gotten about 2k on my 208's and I don't think it will make it to 4k on the rear. I'm fairly new to the street (2 months) but ride fairly hard(chicken strips are maybe 1/4 inch) and love the grip, but damn I can't be buying a tire every 3-4k. I think I'll go with the z6 roadtec next time.

The 208's are superb. Wore out a few sets on my TL1000S. They never suprised me, they are very stable and do not need to be fully warm to give maximum grip. They are soft, I was getting 3000 miles out of the rear with no burnouts, but the TL was very hard on rears as you spend a lot of time on just it.
Highly recommended if you ride hard, If youre a commuter you spends 90% of the time on the freeway go with a higer mileage touring compound. Good Luck, Ed.
