B6 suspension settings for riding with passenger.

I have a stock 01 B6 and it looks like I'll be riding with my girlfriend quite a bit this summer.  What should I set the suspension settings to for riding two-up?  I weight 160 (about 180 in full gear) and she's 125 (about 140 in full gear).  Plus a GIVI box in the back - another 20 pounds or so.  For a total of 340-350 pounds.  I don't know anything about suspension settings so any additional advice would be appreciated.  I am not ready for aftermarket setups yet though.

Set to your liking! Others set up is like telling you how to sync carbs from my settings! But here is some info on some to start. Just remember as far as i know in is the most or squeez the springs give more firmness!!!

I understand that the prefernces and riding styles are individual.  But preload settings can't be as relative as carb sync.  Isn't there an average setting for an average rider touring with a passenger carrying a certain amount of weight?

I would tighten it all the way. My wife and I are about your same combined weight and even all the way tight the bike would still bounce some over bumps. Better would be to bin the stock shock and put on a Busa shock. Made a big difference for me.

If the 2G B6's shock is as bad as the 1G, even full stiff, it is going to be too soft. When Bobcat had his B6, he could bottom it out riding solo with no luggage and I'm guessing he close to your weight, maybe a few pounds more. He tossed a B12 shock on his and it made a world of difference. IIRC, he got the B12 shock for next to nothing from a B12er that was upgrading.

Is there a big difference betweent the 1G B12 shock and the 2G B12 shock?  I'm thinking of swapping my 2G B6 shock with a 2G B12.  Would this be a definate upgrade?  Or should I look into more aftermarket brands?

Get a Busa shock and be done with it!!
