Givi E52 "retrofit" on F511 Givi rack?
« on: August 24, 2009, 01:55:02 PM »
I have a 1G Bandit 1200 - GSF1200S.  For two seasons I have been using a top case mounted on a Givi F511 top case rack.  Love it.

I have the opportunity to get a larger E52 Givi case second-hand and it has the light kit installed.  I can't picture in my head how this will be installed on my current rack.  From the pics I see online it looks like there needs to be a hole in the top black plate of the Givi rack to install a connector.  That connector attaches to the top case via a plug on the bottom of the top case  - linking the tail lights in the top case with those on the bike so they work together.   Am I picturing this wrong in my head?  If not, would I need a different top plate instead?  The F511 plate has no hole.  Are you supposed to drill the hole yourself to retrofit?

Also, what happens when the top case is not installed on the bike - does the connector on the Givi rack get wet in the rain?

Thanks in advance for your help.
