Well I don't really have any experience doing suspension tuning, so I figured I would show you guys my plan and you can pick it apart, give me advice, etc. First off, I own a 1G B6, she does pretty well in the twisties as is, but I long for an even better ride. I was thinking of going with a busa rear shock, Race Tech .95 kg/mm fork springs, and a fork brace. I will also be installing my set of new Pirelli Diablo Strada tires. I am a 140 lb. rider and rarely ride with a passenger. Let me know what you guys think and feel free to add more to the list if need be.

Good plan - with a few comments. For sure the Hayabusa shock is a good move. Make sure you grease all the linkage, etc. when installing it. Check some other posts because I can't say for sure if it will bolt right in to a 1G, nor what it will do to ride height. I have a 2G B12 and just installed the Racetech .95 springs with 10WT oil - I weigh 165 lbs - I set the sag to 30MM and it feels a bit firm - have heard in other posts that Racetech recommends a higher rate spring as they intend for you to install their emulators (which will help with harshness). I have not installed the emulators yet. You may want to think about going to a lighter spring (0.90) or just put the extra $150 in for the emulators and do it all at once. Can't speak to the brace, but have heard it makes a noticable difference. Depending on what you have for tires now, the new ones will make a real improvement.

Thanks for the reply. From what I've read, the busa shock will raise the ride height. This shouldn't bother me much, I wanted to raise it up a bit anyhow. Now the decision is, go with a .90 spring, or go with the .95 with the emulator. The tires won't make a difference to what I am used to because that's what I already have on there. I am just ready for a new set.

I've got the RaceTech springs, no emulator, Superbrace, and the B12 shock on my B6. Works great, feels like the bike is on rails.

Ummm... I don't think the Busa shock is such a good idea for the 1G B6. It won't be easy to install (especially if you still have the stock airbox) and it's too long for the 1G B6.

I think the old GSXR750 shock (see the FAQ) or an aftermarket shock will be better for your bike.

Ahhh... I wish I would have found this out sooner. I just bid on a busa shock on ebay. Hopefully I get outbid or else I'll be selling one within the next few days.

Picked up a 1200 shock instead. (Thanks El Bandito!) Gonna order my fork springs and superbrace within the next week or two.

I know the G1 B1200 shock works well for me and only raised the rear a very small amount. It bolts right in with no mods. I believe the G2 B1200 shock may be a bit long, or have other things that need mods, not so sure as I haven't tried one myself. I'm very happy with the G1 B1200 shock on my G1 B6, works well for the street. My stock shock preload was set as high as it goes and was not even close to the G1 B1200 shock set on the bottom ramp! The G1 B1200 shock has dampining control also!

Well I went with the Progressive springs up front. Still waiting to get a Superbrace. Once some decent weather arrives I'll let you guys know how I like it!

Progressive said cut spacer to 3 and 1/2 inches long, My spacers are at 3 and 15/16 and my sag with me on the bike is still a little much I think , about 40mm. I'm going to cut again at 4 and 1/8 and try to to get closer to 30mm, 35mm max with full tank of fuel and all my gear. I went with 3.5" at first and it was alot better then stock but when I went up almost 1/2 inch it feels even better. I think 35mm sag is a good target. I'm at 190lbs with no gear. So set yours for your own weight.

Just got the bike out today for my first ride since all of the work. All I can say is, wow! It's like a whole new bike! I cut the spacers to 3.5" like it said and it seems alright for me. I'll know more when I can start pushing it more in the turns. I don't wanna do that to much now since both tires are brand new.
