As some of you know (especially those lucky enough to buy holeshot parts very cheap from my bike), I wrecked my '01 1200 a year and a half ago. Decided to part it out, then changed my mind. Here are a few pics if anyone is interested, of the rebuild.

1995 GSX-R 1100 USD with Bandit brakes and wheels.
2003 YZF R1 rear subframe and plastic going on now.

To come - Stage 2 jet and filters.
Hayabusa rear shock
Powdercoating the frame
A lot more polishing

The scratch in the tank should polish right out.

Looking good, I must say. USD forks are on my very long to do list, so I am rather jealous.

Yes, I was going for the rusted patina look on the tank. Do you think I accomplished it?

Real tank is waiting for clearcoat, along with front fender. I'll add a pic of those soon.

Looks great. How much work was the R1 subframe graft? BTW - sticking with Candy Velvety Maroon (gayest name for a really beautiful color)?

Candy Velvet Maroon eill not be staing with the bike. Too much damaged in the welding of tabs to match the triple coat paint job.

Going for the powdercoated black frame.

The grafting time consumption is ard for me to say, as I have a very gracious friend that is housing my bike in his garage and doing the bulk of the work on it in the evenings, with me helping on weekends. There is still a plate to be fabricated to clean up the removed subframe. That should be done this weekend. All in all - I would estimate 10-15 hours of garage time. Will let you guys knowafter the weekend.

The nice thing is that there is no need to modify the plastic or r1 subframe, yet. All items purchased on ebay, except the subframe.

Forks, new triple clamps, plastic, seats. All that.

Speaking of that - I will have a set of bandit forks with racetech springs that I never put on the bike. I bought them from a guys here on the forum back in October. Just decided to use the '95 USD's since they cam to me cheap enough.

So to reiterate - No more Gay name Colors on the bike!

PS: the fender may go up for sale now that I have gsx-r forks. probably won't fit.

I'm still going to try and straighten my sub frame befor wacking it off. My bike is ridable,and don't notice that the subframe is bent over a bit while riding. But I'm waiting for my turn at the bodyshop to staighten it . I tryed at the bike shop,but have nothing to secure it to. At my buddys boddy shop he has a ring cemented in the for to achor to. I like the bit of room under the seat for tools or whatever,and the stock is sutable for a passenger. Then my R1 (older model) tail from Pyramid will go on for track duty. But if I can't get it staight enough to not be noticed or screw it up trying,then I'll end up whacking it off too. I was thinking of cutting the bottom out abit from the frame though, so I can fit over it with a pc. to mount to. I see you cut yours off flush. Can you get some up close pics of the mounting after completed?

What are you asking for the fork, springs and fender. Were the forks in the wreck. Mine are chipped and I keep blowing seals. I have a 00' Bandit 1200 the same chery velvet smoothie color only mine lives in the sun so it is faded. Looking for replacement fender or I will have to break out the gun.

So - once again - here is some of the slow progress.

Frame and swingarm are now powdercoated, but cant go any further until bearings come in.

Nice job on the tabs and capping off the top tubes. Looks like your on the home stretch now. Dan
