looks like a good way to keep some of the crap away from the storage space too! How do you like the gel seat? I was thinking of one but not sure if its worth the money? I typically ride 100-150 miles at a time but do 250-300 mile days when time will allow.

I really liked my OEM Gel on my 2G B-12.  I could do 300-400 /day on it easy.  However, for me, the Corbin was better for LD riding but it also costs more money.

Keep an eye out on ebay and you can score a corbin for about 50% of their retail value.  I bought my OEM gel new for about 160 bucks and sold it 2.5 years (and 22,000 miles) later for 130.  I reinvested that money in a used corbin.  After crashing my 2G and buying a 1G,  I resold my Corbin for about what I paid for it.  I took that money and bought another used Corbin for my 1G for much less that what I paid for my first one.

sounds like the gel or the corbin would work for me. was the passenger seat any better or worse on either seat. I have a part time passenger to think about as well. also looking for a good tail bag.

The Corbin uses the same type of foam for the pillon as the pilot. Can't really ask the wife which she likes better because she wouldn't ride on the Bandit w/o a backrest, but she only complained about the seat after sitting on it for three 500 mile days... even then, her complaints were more about her peg position than the seat.

Both pillion seats are an improvement over stock, at least on the 1st gen. I took my wife for a half day ride on the gel seat and she said she immediately liked it better than the stock seat on wich she hasn't had all that much seat time. She rode on the back of my corbin seat for a ride up to St. Louis. After four 10-11 hours days and one 8 hour day, the only complaint she had about the pillion seat was that it is smaller than both the stock and gel seats and doesn't give the passenger much room to move around. Otherwise, she liked it just fine.
