Suburban Machinery Type I Bars
« on: April 21, 2006, 06:37:06 PM »
I bought a set of SM Type I bars from Doch 80 a little while back. They do fit with some minor clearance issues near lock on an S. The position was just a little too extreme for me. On our first two-up ride my fiancee REALLY didn't like it. I was going to just put the stock bars on but then decided to try the Type I bars upside down. PERFECT!!

Only got a 1 mile test as it started to rain but it feels really good. As near as I can estimate, they are about an inch lower and an inch forward of the stockers.

I originally wanted the type II bars but got a good deal on the I's. I think I'm gonna really like this set-up. There are 0 clearance issues and they look great. A little more aggressive than stock. A good ride through the twistys will tell the tale. The extreme position(probably lower than clip-ons) of the type I's was great in the corners but just not all day comfortable.

When I get a good ride in, I'll post a report.

Can you give me more details of the bars you have, and where to get them?  I have standard bars on my 1G B1200S, and I want more feel through the twisties, so I reckon lower bars would work great!
Any info would be great!
That's impressive,
and I'm not easily impressed.

I have the SM Type 1s on my B4, too.  I like them a lot but may go back to clipons.  They are spendy but very well made.  Search the forums here.  I beleive someone spoke with SM and had some made specific for the B12.  I don't really remember what the specific difference was (locator pin holes, maybe?).

The bars are actually made for naked SVs.  Click Here.
