I'm gonna have a go at the Busa shock install and need a little help. I would like to get a good baseline setting for a 155# before I install it to limit the fiddling around afterwards. Its a 02 B6 if that matters.

As a guess I set the compression and rebound damping at 8 clicks up from softest setting and there are 5 threads showing above the spring collars.

Also, does anyone know the torque settings for the bolts or do you just snug them up.

Tried looking at other thread but couldn't find the info I needed.

Install went pretty easy. Less than an hour total time. Weather isn't the best today but a short ride showed some improvement. Bike does turn quicker with the extra rear height. Seems a little bouncy over the bumps. Not sure if its the shock settings or the stock front end. Centerstand is now useless and will be coming off when I get the chance. A rear stand is now in order.

Any help with the settings would be great.

Bouncy because it's too soft, or jarring because it's too stiff?

Remember the Busa shock has settings for preload, compression and rebound. Set the preload to get the right sag and adjust the comp/rebnd to your taste. I've got mine set on 9 & 10 (forget which is which tho) and I'm ~240 lbs. on a B12...

Actually, after the last post I did some more fiddling. I increased the comp and rebound both by 4 clicks. Another test ride showed a huge improvement. Haven't set the sag yet. Need a helper to make it easy. Probably this weekend. I did however bounce on the seat a few times and the front and rear seem to be acting close to the same which I think is good. I'm sure it'll need a little more tweaking after setting the sag but so far I'm happy. Definately a nicer ride.

It's been said many times before, but if you haven't upgraded any of the suspension yet you should.

Did you end up using a torque wrench to bolt down the new shock, and to torque down the linkage dogbones?

I'm about to replace/install a 2002 B12 Shock to my 2000 B6,
and wondered if you just snugged it up, or followed the torque specs with a torque wrench. Also, did you take apart and apply new grease to all the moving parts of the Shock linkage? and then used a torque wrench to put it all back again?

I had a B6 with the Hayabusa shock. I weigh about 170# (no gear) - settings were 10 out for rebound and 9 out for compression. You can get the sag close on your own, just need something as a reference to zip tie across the seat (used a piece of moulding) - I used a drywall tee sitting on the ground to eyeball the sag - amazing how much better the bike handles when the front and rear sag is the same. Good luck - just keep a log of the suspension tweaks you make so it's easy to refer back to what works and what doesn't.

I'd go ahead and take the suspension bellcrank out and lube its bearings up while you're in there.
