Going nekkid... 97 B1200S
« on: June 06, 2006, 01:26:39 AM »
I've got the itch to go naked, I really dig the look and the front fairing I have right now is broke so I'd either need to replace it or take it off and I think I've finally decided to get it off and replace the stock headlamp with something like a newer Hornet style.

My question: are there any resources for this as I'm not the most mechanically savvy and I have no idea on where to start - aside from taking the fairing off.

If anyone has any tips or tricks and have done this before, that'd be appreciated as well.

Thanks.

If you just want a big, round headlight, it's pretty easy since you have a 1G B12S. Get a headlight & bucket from a naked bike, like the SV650, GS500, etc. and a set of headlight brackets for 43mm forks either from the aftermarket, or a bike with 43mm forks that comes naked. For US folks, a 2001-up B12N works great (has blinker mounts on it too). Then simply remove your fairing and all it's hardware and replace it with the naked parts.
