I’ve looked at all the posts I’ve looked at all the reviews, now I want to hear about personal experience.
I need a very good wet weather tire as I ride at speeds up to 70 mph on wet windy roads. (See my intro in General Motorcycle) I realize that the softer the compound the better the traction and lower mileage. But my way of thinking is more tires equals less down time for repair and recuperation so money is no object. So who out there drives like he stole it on wet roads? And what are your experiences on tires. Most tires are good for slow speed in the wet on straight roads but consider this, the Blue Ridge Parkway driving rain and fog going down the mountain at 60+ chasing a group of bicycles. I am using Dunlop K591on my Harley without any problems. This 1200 came with a Dunlop 207 on the rear and a Bridgestone 202 on the front. Both are in good condition but I’ll get rid of them in a heartbeat if they are going to give me trouble.

I bought Bridgestone BT 010s.  They are a softer tire and work great in the twisties and rain.  Downside is that after about 2k miles I've got a flat spot on the rear and this is with a low torque B6.  The front has held up fine and the rear only costs about a $100, so if you have to buy one a year its not too bad.  I believe the 010 was replaced by the 014.

Probably the #1 reson I am such a HUGE fan of Metzeler tires is how exceptional they are in the rain/wet.
M1 Sportec on the front and Z6 on the rear.

I would have to agree with Manny, if money is no object, the M1 front, Z6 Rear combo is pretty hard to beat.  I run a MEZ4 on the rear, only because the Z6 wasn't released in Oz when I need to fit new tyres.  2 Month later they were :duh: .

Manny do you think the M1 on the front and rear would last a 2000 mile trip on blue ridge parkway type roads the whole trip?  The would be a fesh set put on just before the trip!

I realize that Aussiebandit, but at least I have a starting point.

I checked with Metzeler tech support, here is my question to them and their answer.

My question:

Which of your two tires are better for wet road conditions. The Roadtec
Z6 or the Sporttec M1? I will be putting them on a 2000 Suzuki Bandit
1200S. I am a USCF Official and use the motorcycle for officiating at
bicycle races. Sometimes in the mountains on wet roads so I need the
best possible traction on wet twisty roads.

Their reply:

The Roadtec Z6 tires are designed to offer more wet grip than the M-1
tires because of compound and tread pattern. The M-1 is a great sport
tire but it leans more towards sport riding, while the Roadtec is a all
season long distance tire.

They better, because that is what I have planned. I figured out my routes for BOSS '05 and it looks like 1700 miles over five days and I will have about 400 miles on the M1's before departing for Willville.

Seriously, my experience is with a proper suspension setup and running suggested pressures of 33f/36r that 3000 miles is about the limit.

OK, have only had the Z6 (front and rear) on for a short time but from what i'v seen of them the best is yet to come! 36f,38r.

I'll tell more in a few weeks, but they do stick in the wet! :bigok:
