First Thoughts.
« on: May 01, 2008, 01:22:30 PM »
Well I've had the bandit for almost a week. I have not been able to really get out there and ride due to the weather but have put a few hundred K's on going to work etc.

First my other bike (1993 SECA 2 600) REALLY sucked  I had no idea just how much until i got on the bandit and actually rode. Yes I expected more power that's a given. What I didn't realize was just how much more power

The bandit also far more confidence inspiring on curves and on the highway during my comute. Comfy too.

Only complaints are the Headlight (Dim and dusty) and the Gas Gauge that does seem to  work.
All in all I love this bike even more than I expected.

Thanks I've already looked that thread. Not all the way through yet but I will finish on the wekend. I did use some compressed air to blow some of the crap out and the light is a little better. I will explore my other options as well. I'm hoping not to take off the fairing this season ( So many SECA issues i just want to RIDE)  though so brighter bulbs may be all I do for the short term. .

The #1 issue is the dust that accumulates inside the projector housings.  I'm pretty sure this dust comes from the blockers/deflectors/whatever you want to call them.  Seems everyone who has removed their blockers has eliminated their dust problem.

You don't have to take the whole fairing off to do the work, but you do need to take it partially apart to get inside the headlight.

Ok Thanks.
I have not yet got a clymers let alone service manual yet so I don't even know where to start yet in taking off the fairing. I plan to take care of that rightaway. I like to tackle disassembly knowing roughly at least what I am going to be looking at.

I will need to address the light in the near future.

Up at the top of the page, in the banner, the second link from the left... click there.
I think you'll find a manual there REAL cheap.  :stickpoke:

Tried playing with the connector. The gauge did work for about an hour then quit again. Must be looser than i thought.

Second observation. If in first gear I give the throttle  a bit of a twist the front tire will lose contact with the pavement.

So far so good for the most part ,I have put 1500km's onnthe bike since i picked it up.

The headlight thing is a real PITA though. I changed the lowbeam for a regular highbeam as a stop gap until i rewire and get some HIR bulbs. Now instaed of a candle my lowbeam is a flash light.

The oil leak has definately stopped now that the oil level is  at just below the fill line. I'm still having the dealer replace the alternator gasket /o-ring.

At low speed/rpm the bike shudders(?) I don't know if that's normal or if it's due to the stock settings on the  pilot circuit which is still untouched on this bike. After about 2500 RPM it's very smooth.

I have some clutch rattle it sounds abit like my SECA 2 did again not sure if that normal or not.

Over all I love this bike and am really enjoying the rides.
