1200 fits - 1250 does not
« on: June 16, 2007, 11:15:56 PM »
Well, I went to my local dealer to see the new 1250.  Nice bike - until I sat on it.

The tank has a sharp edge right where my leg fits the smooth side of my 1200 tank!

It probably fits most riders just fine - but taller riders might not be comfortable.

Such a shame because the bike looks great and, if the tank was shaped like the earlier Gen 2 1200, I would consider one.  But "as is" no way.

Looks like I'll be keeping my super-comfortable 02 1200 for a long long time.

How tall are you?  I'm 6'3 and it fits me great!  That was one of the worries I had originally had before I got to sit on one.

I am 6'7" with a 36" inseam.  The crease in the side of the tank hits my knee on the 1250 but, on my 1200, it is just above the knee so my leg rests on the flat part of the side of the tank.

Most riders probably won't have a problem with the 1250 but it just won't work for me.  Too bad too because it looks like a great bike.

I know the sharp point you're talking about now, I looked closer on the way home from work today.  I can see how a couple more inches of "legs" would put your knee right into that point.  That sucks!

The seat is adjustable but that does nothing to change the knee/tank relationship which is determined by the footpeg height, not the seat height.

However, most riders should find the B 1250 confortable.
