My front right fork on my 1g 2000 Bandit 1200S is leaking a little oil. Its been happening for months, its nothing extreme but you can notice the oil after a while on the top of the right fork.

I hear I need new seals to fix this. So since I will be taking apart my forks and re-oiling etc. I was thinking of adding a good spring to the forks.

I don't know much about this at all, so a buddy of mine who lives hours away will help me with the forks. I need to show up with everything I will need in hand.

Im not sure what all I need to buy. What needs to be replaced and what can be reused. I need new seals?? Can I buy all OEM stuff, and get a Racetech spring. or is there certain racetech stuff I have to buy if im using their spring?

Does he have the tools? If not, review the proceedure in the manual to see whay you'll need to bring.

OEM seals, dust covers, fork oil and new springs are all you'll need to bring if he's got the tools.

Thanks so much for the reply. With the sut covers is that an oem deal??

Also with fork oil, does it really matter what kind you use?? Like the quarts on racetech site is like $25 a quart, thats a little excessive..

I don't have any experience with the Racetech juice, so I can't say if it's worth the extra coinage.

The dust seal is an OEM part, it's just abouve the oil seal.

What kind of special tools would you suggest for this job? I have 2 friends that have Ninja's who did fork jobs theirselves. the 250cc ninja guy did springs and emulators, the other guy did just springs. Neither bought any kind of special tools for the job, but Im not sure if my forks will be a bigger pain.

Also what will a gold valve kit do?? is it like adding emulators?? Im trying to just get rid of front end dive since I need to replace the seals anyway. I'm not prepared to spend much on this, since All I really want to do is stop the fork leak.

I was hoping someone who'd done this would speak up.

Haven't had to do this job on mine, so I'm not sure, but if the service manual says you need some special tool, you'll need something to do the job. It won't necessarily have to be the Suzuki tool, just something that can do the same job.
