GSX-R Forks and shocks.
« on: September 28, 2006, 05:48:50 PM »
I have seen one instance where someone has replaced their forks with GSX-R forks.  I was wondering exactly what parts they had to swap...i.e. did you change the triple tree, and bearings?  Or was it just a fork swap.  Also how is it riding with the clip ons.

Also I have read that you can do a straight swap for the rear shock with a 2001 GSX-R 1000...just wanted to know if anyone has done that?  If there is a different swap or rear shock that someone has already tried how is it?

As far as the forks go, how is it riding after this swap....and would it be any different than doing the springs and valves.  (I have read that the forks on the bandit have a tendency to bend if you are rough with it).  I drive hard..

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you

Asphalt,

I made the swap to a 1994 gsxr1100 front set up.  if you replace the gsxr stem with the bandit stem - it is a direct bolt on.  I love the ride and feel and am extremely happy with it.

I went with the stock rc-51 rear shock, as it is the same length and has within 1 of the same travel.

PM me if you want more info.  I have posted pics in other sections here with descriptions.

Made a GSXR 750 rear shock swap....rebuildable and a remote gas reservoir. Lotta setting up to do, but worth it. Only mod was frinding a bit off the bottom of the shock to get the linkage to bolt up.
