New chain makes a big difference
« on: August 26, 2007, 11:40:18 PM »
I just replaced the original chain and sprockets on my 97 1200S last week. The mileage was 12540. I was amazed at the difference today when I finally went for a ride (it rained pretty much all week). I previously had "surging" around 2000 rpms when tooling around town and that is now gone. It must have been the chain binding. Also, the bike is so much smoother at highway speeds I can't believe the difference. There was some vibration before around 3-4K at the handlebars and footpegs, but very little now.
