Gears and RPMs??
« on: June 22, 2008, 11:18:31 AM »
I know the stock set up is a 45/15, and I know my rear is a 45. But I can't get the front sprocket cover off to tell if it is a 15 or not. Does anybody know of a list of speed vs rpm for the stock set up so I can compare mine to what it's supposed to be?

What model?  I think some of them may vary a little.

My bike (K8) registers about 85 at 4500 rpm, in 6th of course.  I'm not sure as I've only paid attention a couple of times, but I think It runs at about 65 at 3500 rpm (all of this is indicated speed).

oops. 2001 GSF1200S. 5 speed. I think I'm reading about 80 mph at 5000 rpm in 5th gear... but I'm pulling that from my poor memory...

I'm almost exactly 4K rpm @ 70mph.  I'm not the first owner, so I couldn't swear the sprocket hasn't been changed, but I have no reason to think it has....

Five vehicles for two drivers?  Sounds about right to me....

Sounds about right for stock 15/45 gearing.

That's what mine turns @ 70mph and my gearing is stock.
