Tires unlimited has the Shinko, now...

    http://www.tiresunlimited.com/Shinko_tires.htm

Looks like $160 or so, without shipping, for a set of the 009 for a 1200.

Az motorsports has the same set, in stock B12 sizes for $135, without shipping.  SOunds like a deal...

Gyro sez:

Got a set from Western Power Sports, Memphis TN, a few months ago for the same price you paid, shipping included (http://motorcycle.motorcycle-superstore.com/search?p=Q&lbc=motorcyclesuperstore&uid=428289515&ts=custom&w ). Shipping was close to instantaneous! Tire date-code is also new. Wow!

Can't mount them on the B1200 until the well-used rear Shinko goes away. There's still a left-over Metzler MZ-4 holding down the front as well. They seem to get on well together! I'm starting to drag footpegs recently - something I rarely did before.

+1  Great Vid!

I've always thought that people who think the Shinkos aren't a good enough sport tire for the Bandit have delusions of grandeur.  Your video proves it.

I put a set of the 009s on about 2 weeks ago and i'm quite happy . I'm not super aggressive so I've still got some chicken strip but they are shrinking. Very confident leaned over and easy to lean. I need to try then in the rain ,if they are good there i'll be really happy.

I just recently took a Shinko off the rear on my Bandit. A local Dragracer used it at the strip and to commute back and forth to work until he picked up a screw in it. I plugged it and got 4k more miles out of it. Lots of chicken strips left if you want them, the middle is flat. A 190 series was a tight fit but worked for as long as I needed it.

Wow. After reading this most excellent thread, I ordered a new Raven 09 for my new-to-me Bandit 1250. The Pirelli that was on there was about gone, the front still has plenty left. I don't have it running yet (see my New Bandit thread) but when I do I can't wait to test out the bike with a new Shinko on it!
BTW I paid $102 for it, free shipping from Motorcycle Super Store.  :thanks: all you guys for the great reviews!

An long, old thread, but my two cents worth.  I just ordered a Shinko 005 front and 009 back from Chaparral motor sports.  The order came to $167.70 total and as far as I know, that is not a sale price.

Have nearly 1K on the Shinko 009 now and it's ahowing hardly any wear at all, just a little bit of a flat spot you have to look real hard to notice. And no chicken strips, it's nice and smooth all the way out to the edges where my pegs start to touch down.
I'm really happy with this tire so far and I can't see ever paying big bucks for a Pirelli or Michelin again. As long as this Raven holds up the way it has been, I'll be ordering another and a 005 for the front to match.
