Picking a windscreen
« on: December 17, 2005, 11:25:43 AM »
I know this subject has been beaten to death... but I'm getting a new windscreen for a Christmas present - and I have to decide this week which one.  Thought I'd get one final set of opinions on it.

I'm 6'2", with a long torso, but I don't want to go with a tall touring shield.

I like the Suzuki screen.... nice tint - killer looking logo - premire fit with less buzz - sturdy construction - moved the windblast up yet still retains the sporty look.  I'm not quite as tall - 6'-0" so YMMV.

I've got the ZG DB, and I like it. I'm 6' with an average length torso for my height. I've seen the Givi screens, and they look OK, I like mine better though. I haven't riden behind one though. Tint on the Givi isn't as dark as my dark tint ZG. I haven't seen the Suz accessory screen in person yet, but from the pics, I like the look of it. Had it been available back in 2001, I probably would have bought it instead of my ZG, but I don't like it so much that I'm going to change now unless something were to happen to my current screen.

I have seen the suzuki bandit tinted 2" taller screen on another bandit, and it looks very good.  I plan on purchasing one as soon as I recover from my wifes Christmas spending frenzy.  I have heard that it fits better than any of the other shields, but that is just one guys opinion.

Are you my twin?  I'm the exact same dimensions with the same Xmas present dilemna.  The wind blast from the stock screen hits me right in the face.  After lots of reading here and on other sites, I went with the Suzuki OEM screen.  I have some Givi luggage and have been very impressed with the quality, but not too sure I like the looks of their screens and I haven't been able to find enough pics to judge.  The ZG looks nice but posters here kept mentioning wind noise.

I'll let you know how I like it once it gets here and gets installed.

Whatever you go with, you may have to rubber mount it. My ZG screen resonated terribly, I used Roadkill to rubber mount the entire screen.

It (Roadkill) is very good material and can be cut into thin strips to line the contact points between the screen and bodywork. The adhesive backing works very well- overall it was worth the $.

good Luck, Ed.

I did have wind noise issues with the ZG ST screen, but the DB is as quiet if not quieter than the stock screen for me.
No resonation issues with the ST or DB for me... but I have heard of resonation issues with just about every screen out there, so it may be some bike-to-bike variable.

I've got the Suzi aftermarket.  I don't notice much turbulance now until about 90mph, that's my cue to take it easy (or in some cases upshift!!)  For most riding situations I'm very happy with it.

Oh I'm 6'-0"
