Removing Front Fairing.
« on: April 19, 2005, 01:57:44 PM »
Sorry Guy`s i`m sure you have had this question a million times.........

I`ve just bought a faired 600 bandit (prefer naked but price was too good) and am looking to remove the fairing and fitting ideally a twin headlight or at least a standard single.

Has anyone done it? Is it an easy job? What bits do i need? Where can i get the bits?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dan.

Hey Dan, :welcome: to the site.

I'm NOT a B6 expert but I believe the level of difficulty depends on whether you have a first generation (1G, 95-99) or second generation (2G, 00-04) B6.  1Gs are easier b/c the clocks are mounted to the top triple.  On 2Gs, the clocks are mounted to the fairing and will have to be relocated.  It has been done on both.  Good luck!

Cheers for the reply Rob, much appreciated.

I have ( pick up tomorow actually ) an early bandit (96) so hopefully it will be a straightforward job then.

Cheers again!

VERY easy if its a 1G.  A 2G can be a PITA the first time or two.

Oh...as for where to find the 'bits', let us know where you are and someone will chime in.  "Cheers" and "bits" leads me to think GB or down under somewhere.

Lincs UK mate.......i will update my profile.

Have had a RGV250, FZR600 and a ZXR600 but feel like a different sort of ride, one where my back and wrists don`t hurt after 10 mins!

Removing fairing? I want it on!
« Reply #6 on: April 23, 2005, 08:39:02 AM »
Hi,

How's that for coincidence, I was actually browsing the web for aftermarket front fairing.

I have a G1 (97) dark blue 1200S Bandit, and I just hate the front.

I was wondering if it was possible to fit a G2 front fairing (with the bits) on a G1 Bandit? Of course the mirrors and the gauges and dials are embedded in the plastics on a G2 Bandit, on a G1 it's kinda mounted on the front. Was wondering if the switch was possible, and if not, if there were aftermarket front fairings for G1 bandits.

If it's just a matter of swapping the fronts, would you be interested in a swap?

Regards.

Yes, it can be done. It's not simple though. You will have to fab your own mounting brackets as the frames between the two Gens are different. I only know of one person who has done it and they hang out on Maximum-Suzuki. I don't recall the guy's screen name, but I'm sure if you're a member of the site and use their search function, you can find out the details. The guy also has a sidecar on it, if that might help you find him.

My honest opinion... looks fine from a distance, but up close you can see the body lines don't quite match up.
