Renntec case guard questions
« on: August 06, 2007, 05:26:15 PM »
Hi everyone,
Bike:  2001 1200S

I bought the Renntec case guards from REVs Performance last winter; only now getting around to installing them.  Before I do, I thought I would ask the collective a few questions.  But first, a picture:

The above picture is from a Gen1 Bandit; mine is a Gen2.  Which leads to the first question:
1) The above photo shows the lower motor mount in place, which is not present on Gen2 US bandits.  The Renntec guards are made in the UK.  I don't know if what I got from REVs is specific to the UK.  Will I need to fabricate some sort of spacer to take the place of this motor mount?
2) The case guards mount using the motor mount bolts (longer bolts are supplied with the guards).  Should the motor be supported from below when replacing these bolts?
3) Probably a little loctite would be advisable on these bolts?
4) Just holding these guards "close to" where they will mount, it looks like the right side comes very close to the oil fill cap.  Do these guards interfere with oil changes?

Thanks for your comments!   dt
