I have one on my 06 and it is slick. Same body style as the newer bandits.

Yup.... count me in.  Very nice rack for sure.  The expandable tail-pack is a nice touch but EXTREMELY pricey for what you get.  I just replaced my tail pack (sun-faded and torn) and they've redesigned it (poorly) but I modified it to work like it should have been.

Good customer service...  shipping and handling was on the high side.

All in all I give the whole set-up (rack and pack) a 9 out of 10.

Nope.  I'm gonna make one.  And if it turns out OK, then I'll figure out a way to mount my plastic ammo cans from my bulk ammo purchases from Cabelas for saddlebags.  (Rather get some Givi, but I can't $$$ right now).

One word of caution, luggage racks that attach like this one are not good for carrying much weight (~10 lbs max) - at least on the 2G bikes.  I assume the structure the grab rail mounts to on the 3G & 4G is similar, but I've never seen it.  The leverage of much weight on mounting points so close together leads to cracking the structure under the cosmetics.

If you need something capable of carrying more than 10 lbs, a rack with mount points spead further apart is better.  One such rack is Ventura's:

I was going to disagree, but, I drew a static force diagram.  By golly, now I think you are right!   Where did you get this information from?

Also, I had the tail cowling off.  The rear two bolt bosses are attached on either end a bracket that is in turn welded the full length (about 2-3"?) to the frame tubes.  So the grab rail attachments might be stronger than it seems.

The load limit is listed on the rack's installation instructions too.   Still, assuming you're not mounting a topbox or similar it's a great little rack with clean lines.

Those pictures are of a B12...? I checked my bike and it looks to have some substantial metal support by way of the subframe. Good thought about not loading it up to the gills, though.     ,BK
