replacement windscreen picture added
« on: May 13, 2008, 11:06:31 PM »
I have been looking for a double bubble windscreen for my O6.  The way I understand it, Suzuki changed the faring in 06 and then changed out the motor for 07.
The company web site shows the double bubble for 07 and 08 models.
I sent them a email and asked if the windscreen would fit the 06.
I got back a company answer "we know that all of our parts will fit the models for which they were designed, and any changes are at your own risk." :banghead:

I belive it's the same faring, but would like to know if anyone else has tried this or has the mesurements to confirm this one way or the other.

I know that GIVI has a tall screen but that is a bit too tall and I am not keen to have the reverse curve on the top of the screen.  So I would like to go with the Suzuki screen if I can.
The problem with the 06 is that there a just not that many after market things for it.

The body work on the '06 is the same as the '07. I sent pictures to Dale from Holeshot who confirmed this. I have not actually tried this myself but when ordering body pieces for my '06 I have asked the shop to cross reference the part number for the '07 and they have always matched. My best advice is to call your dealer and ask them for the part # for the '06 screen and the '07. Hope this helps

I checked with the dealership and they tell me that the numbers do not match between the 06 and 07.
I also told them that Givi has a windsrceen that fits both and they also found that on the Givi site, but are not wanting to take a leap of faith see the 07 will fit.

Check out the powerbronze site. They sat their double bouble fits '00 to '07 for the Bandit 1200. The only thing that confuses me is that I thought the '06 was the last 1200.

The 06 is the last 1200 Bandit.  If I'm correct only the faring carries on. Oh and the seat and tail section and the headlight, and ...

06 is the last 1200, but its fairing is different than the 01-05's... Sounds like Powerbronze screwed up not only on the last year, but the first one, too.  :duh:

I received a short note from Suzuki Canada last night which confrims what I had thought all along.
I have no idea why they chose to answer my inquiry a second time, but I am pleased that they took the time to think about my question and actually check the parts to see.
To date I have had conflicting answers from the dealerships who have 06, 07 and 08 models on their floor, and parts departments who have the parts numbers and diagrams on their computer screens.

Here is what Suzuki Canada sent

Thank you for taking the time to write to us.

Based on our finding the 2007-08 windscreen is not listed anywhere as fitting the '06, however the original windscreens are the same for 06 and 07, so the 2007 accessory windscreen should fit.

We trust this information is helpful.

Again my thanks to them for actually taking the time to check.

Did I read somewhere that Suzuki US didn't import the K6 into the States in 2007? This is the one with the K7/K8 bodywork but with the 1200 motor. Maybe I'm wrong but this explains the confusion - different markets got different bikes and the accessory manufacturers (and sometimes the bike importers!) don't always know exactly what fits what.

You are exactly right.  The 06 didn't meet the US emmission standard, that was one of the reasons to go to the fuel injectors on the 07.  Most of the body work changes between models were made on the 06 and only (only ) the engine and main frame down tubes were changed in 07.  That also means that I can add the touring package to my 06 as a simple bolt on, rather than go to aftermarket parts and adaptors.

I got it and it is in.

Watch for the rubber washer/bolts, they push through and drop into dark spots in the faring.  Other that that it is an easy install.

I like it  I put on 300 km today and it does reduce the wind blast without helmet vibrations.

Did you get the powerbronze, Holeshot, or Suzuki screen?

I'm curious.

Yea, I ranted on those stupid rubber encased nuts on another board. grrrrr. . . .
I wound up using packing tape to hold them in place, and a very bright flashlight to find them when they first dropped.  If I had it to do over again, I would have just ordered a new set from an OEM dealer before I started.

I checked all three and found the Suzuki the cheapest and easy to get.  It took seven days to order in. Something on the order of $ 95 with taxes

I know this is an old thread but I just picked up the Suzuki windscreen today. It was in stock at my dealer for C$89 including tax. I'll put it on tomorrow and test it out to see if it makes a difference.

Keep your face shield down.  I find that the screen sends all flying insects right into my eyes.  On one long bit of NO-STOPPING roadway, I had a unknown type of bug fly into my helmet and crawl around inside for what seemed like a very long time. I have no idea what it was but it crawled into my ear and back out twice. Damn thing finally crawled out of my helmet and behind my sunglasses and then flew off.

That would be freaky!

I'm 6'2" and I find that everything hits me in the face with the stock windscreen and it's very noisy. Hopefully this will be better.
