Engine Color Code
« on: March 22, 2008, 03:43:38 PM »
I ended up with some scarpes on my engine, I can easily polish them out but...what paint color is the engine? I have a 2005 1200. I could bring a sample in for them to read but from what I hear it is usually not an exact match, and in this case i'd kind of like an exact match.

I believe they sell "Suzuki Grey" for the engine.  It's made by PJ1.

 Haven't had to point anyone to the FAQ for a long time - and that's pretty impressive!

OTOH, in the FAQ's there is a topic that covers paint and there's a little tidbit in there for B12 engine color:

Quote
For touching up the of the B12's engine/gearbox, go to your favorite hobby store or WalMart and pick up a spray can of
Testors #1813 Black Pearl Metalic.

The B12 color is usually a little darker than the GSX-R & Katanas used.

(Unfortunately, that FAQ thread doesn't have any help for the silver of B6's.)

No problem... it is currently burried pretty low on the list, so I could see how one might miss it.
And it's a subject that hasn't been discussed in a while, so it's actually GOOD to talk about this sort of stuff once in a while. Otherwise, people would just come and read the FAQ and never post - and what fun is there in that?
