Suzuki Canada has just announced a Bandit 1250 variant - the Canadian Special Edition.

The 1250SE comes with fairing lowers and saddlebags as standard, as well as ABS. An optional tail trunk is available for those that find it difficult to ‘pack light’.

MSRP the 2008 Bandit 1250 SE is $11,999.00

Looks like theyre going to compete with the new FZ1 TE we get here in Canadia too!

It has sort of caught my eye...I may have to look a little closer in real life.

The price looks high (as do all Canadian prices right now!), but depending on what the dealer may actually sell it for, this is a possibility for my next bike. In the same price range as a Triumph Sprint ST or even a VFR for that matter.

Maybe Suzuki is trying to compensate for the higher tariff by compensating with add-ons at mostly cost. I know the hard cases aren't cheap, even at 20% off OEM prices, no shipping charges and self install they cost me $1200 and I still haven't received them. I figure just one in my life I'll indulge myself which is exactly what it is when you consider you can get Givi clones for a fraction of the cost.

Well to be honest I really don't understand the value of this bike in Canada with the whole exchange rate difference. I only know that to me your stuff cost a heck of allot more. One great thing about 1st & 2nd gen B1200 they all pretty much look alike and if I lived in Canada I would be real tempted to buy a 2005 B1200 in the USA and hire a coyote to sneak me back across the boarder and swap fairing and tank with my old 98 LOL. Parts is parts right?

I saw the new Suzi OEM luggage at the Cycle World show in Phoenix, and am glad that they have finally realized that marketing a bike as a sport-tourer means you have to offer some sort of bags.  But I am disappointed to see that this is just ANOTHER silver Bandit.  How about a bright red one with a big while maple leaf on the tank?  I mean, what's more emblematic of a country than its flag?  (Or at least an inverted color scheme of that flag?) I mean, doesn't everyone like the LOOK of the Captain America bike from Easy Rider, even if they wouldn't want to ride it?

Easy Rider?

The 1969 movie with Dennis Hopper and Peter Fonda, who play characters nicknamed "Captain America" and "Billy".  Peter Fonda's bike is a chopper with a gas tank that has an American flag motif, and has been widely reproduced over the years.

I was proposing that an updated, sportier version with a Canadian flag motif would be a cool Canadian-only Bandit.

I think your on to something there seven. But what would be better in this day and age of info gateway and robotic assembly technology, then the ability to sit down with the dealer or in the privacy of your own home and order your own personal desired B1250 motif from the factory. Mine would be an Iron Man motif with my face of course.

This version was available in the UK (and possibly the continent, as well) last year. Good old Suzuki Canada's marketing department......heads shoved up completely, as usual.....as well as being a year behind the curve.....as usual. How the hell they manage to stay in business is TOTALLY beyond me.....
It's a good thing that the Japanese end of the equation is so adept at turning out reasonably creative and well engineered/built products
.....otherwise the whole enterprise would have cratered years ago, IMO.

The 1969 movie ..
I was kidding! Of course I've heard of Easy Rider... never seen any of it except for the last five minutes though. Been told it's dead boring.

Oh, I don't know...I wouldn't say it's boring, but it's rather slow in places.  Like movies of that era, there is a slower pace, there are no action sequences, and a lot of the movie was improvised.  I'd also believe that the slow pace was on purpose, since the story is about a ramble across the US.  I'd say it's well worth seeing just as part of your cultural literacy, much like seeing the original STAR WARS film, or other movies that are so widely known and quoted.

Yeah, I would have installed the factory bags rather than the Givi's if Suzuki would have had them available........
