For those of you who wonder why your hands & wrists hurt when riding the bandit... I submit that the pull-back bend of the stock handlebars is too extreme... causing you to bend your wrists and put too much pressure on the outer part of your palms.

I just replaced mine with Bikemaster drag bars ($16 shipped from Ridenow.com) and the ergonomics are way better.

Did you raise the bars when you put them on? Di you need new brakelines or cables?

My wrists are killing me, so I have to try something.

I'm 6'2" with long arms (37 long shirt sleeves)

I didn't use risers, and that is kind of a trade off.  I didn't need new lines at all.

I don't know if I like this much a forward-lean as these bars give... but the angle of the pull-back is DEFINITELY much better.  (Gen-Mar risers would probably make it perfect, but I don't like the looks of risers.)

Just for giggles I ordered different set of Bikemaster "Superbike" handlebars that are $20 shipped from Ridenow.com to try out since it's only about a 1/2 hour job to swap them out.

If I like the Superbike bars better I'll sell these drag bars for shipping cost + $5.00 to anyone who is interested.

I also have a set of brand new Bikemaster "GP Touring Bars" that I'm selling... I ordered them and then found out they are almost identical in dimension to the stock bars.  I never even mounted them on the bike.  (They want a 20% re-stocking fee for me to send them back so I'm selling them cheap.)

You can see all 3 here:  http://store.azmusa.com/knclubhanbla.html

Dude, where's my handlebars?!?

Interesting post as I'm thinking of doing something.  I too am tall and long of arm.  Just happened by my suzi dealer and sat on a strom and thought those exact handlebars might be enough of a rise to sit me up a bit straighter.  Some of those on that site you showed might do the trick, I dunno.

If you get V-Strom type bars you will need to replace all the lines.  (Throttle, brake, clutch, etc.)

So these bars have much less "sweep", so they are nearly straight, and it feels good?  I will be buying new bars as soon as I can find some good ones for a good price, the 1G 1200 has even more rise than the 2g, so I feel like I am way up in the breeze!
That's impressive,
and I'm not easily impressed.

I've had Two bandits and I run the same as i used on RD Yamahas years ago. They are copies of CB400 Honda bars i believe.  Flatter and less pull back than stock. I'm 6' with long arms (but don't touch the ground !)  Gaz.

I personally don't have any issues with my 2G 1200.  I am 6'1" and I rode about 2800 miles over the course of 1 1/2 weeks.  My only two issues was that my butt was getting sore and I wish I had a throttle lock.

Why? Is $16 too rich for you to buy your own?  :stickpoke:
