i just declared the stock bridgestones DOA at 8,000 miles on my bike and would appreciate input on a new set . first i need to get that kind of miles out of my next set and i commute 250 miles a week. on the weekend the bike serves as my personal rollercoaster with 1/8" chicken strip`s on the rear. i have my thought`s but do not wish to sway any input . so please fire away . I got just shy of 10K out of a Bridgestone BT010 front and BT020 rear. The front tire was just starting to cup @ 9K. Had it not cupped, it would have probably been good for 12K. Replaced those with Michelin Pilot Roads. The rear tire lasted just over 10K and was replaced with another. The front will be replaced any day (just waiting for the tire to show up on my stoop) and has lasted over 15K. I'm happy with the handling/mileage compromise of them. My chicken strips are about the same width as yours.

Metzeler Z6's are also VERY popular and are a slightly better handling, but won't last as long as the PR's from what I've read from people who've used both over at ST.N.

Avon Azarros are also a popular sport-touring tire choice.

Actual milages vary significantly due to rider styles and road conditions. Your mileage may vary from mine. I do tend to get more miles out of my tires than the "average" rider that posts.

after going around corners you can clearly see an unused portion of your rear tire toward the edge of the tread .these portions of the rear tire are called chicken strip`s . M

More definition for chicken strips......

The VIRGINAL section of your tire tread, that has never made contact with the pavement....and maybe never will.
The narrower they are, the more you're leaning the bike over.
It's really not an indication of how well you actually corner, since you can have narrow CHICKEN STRIPS without cornering well.
Still, they're useful in impressing SQUIDS who have never been on anything but a totally flat road.

If you're really smoking in the corners, you'll have little balls of molten rubber on the edges of the chicken strips.
Not sure there's a name for these, but I kind of like 'Dingleberries'.
Maybe 'TingleBerries' is better......

Check out Pirelli Diablos - much more even wear than my last set of 020s - no cupping, just great handling - in the wet or dry. I got about 5K from the rear before hitting the wear bars and still I have another 2-3k of life left on the front. Pirelli just released a new higher mile tire called the Strada. You might consider a Strada on the rear and a Diablo on the front. CJ
