I was reading in the faqs forum and was wondering if i made the dog bones 1/4" shorter how much would that raise the bike. I would like a little more ground cleareance for the corners. i keep dragging my pegs but i still have plenty of tire left to go.

It'll raise the taillight about 1.5"

Check your suspension settings for more clearance.

I'm 220lbs and can run to the edge of the tire without scraping... then again, I do have different pegs on mine.

i just built new ones for mine and made them 3/8 shorter and it raised mine about 2 inches.on a 99 b6 with all my other mods i would highly recommend doing it feels totaly diffrent.

thanks for the reply's. I think i will try making some at 1/4" then. I got my bike last year, a 01 b6, and now it is time to start doing a little modifying to it.

Why don't you just add a Busa shock to raise the tail and improve the quality of your shock? They can be had cheaply (~$35) on e-Bay.

FWIW, I did end up doing just that. (Mine cost me $25 + $15 shipping.)
On the flip side, the shorter dogbones will make the stock shock a little stiffer.
(But the Busa shock is still better.)

what would happen if you have lovered the front forks 10mm in the triple clamps and shorted the dogs bones 3/8 to raise the rear end?

Will these fit without modification? Just curious. jwalters just put in a gsx1100 shock, and had to do a little grinding to make it fit. grind-fit-grind-fit-grind-fit... looked frustrating!

You will have quickened the steering even more than the guy who left the forks alone and only shortened the bones 1/4". The tail would probably be ~2" higher (or more) than stock. My guess is by this point the centerstand would be useless. (If that matters to you.)

The Busa shock goes on the 2G B12's with only a trimming of a tab on the airbox. If the 2G has pod filters, then it bolts right in. Not sure how easy it goes into the 1G bikes, but I wouldn't use it in a 1G without some lowering dog bones because otherwise it will lift the tail of a 1G ~3" or more - and that's a bit too far, IMHO.

No it doesn't! I'm just more worried about causing problems making the bike unstable during hard riding !
