That is one of the best streetfighters I've seen in ages, can't believe how well that R1 tail unit looks, that's erotic. Was it a lot of work getting it to fit?

Yeah, getting the tail on there is the hardest part of the project. You have to make sure everything fits properly, the angles are right and(most importantly) that everything is secure! Stressful, but worth it. Now for some cosmetics and engine upgrades

WOW! thats amazing looking! very nice work. just wondering if the subframe was bolted in place or did you just weld it on and is there actualy enough room there for a normal battery box?

Since the R1 subframe is aluminum, and the Bandit frame is steel, there was no way to weld it on. I had to fabricate tabs, weld them to the frame, and bolt the subframe on. This was by far the hardest part of the project.
The battery wasnt much of a problem. Since I used the entire R1 tail(including the battery box), I just decided it would make sense to use an R1 battery as well.

Looks great! How did you weld the aluminum subframe to the steel frame? Did you have to weld on inserts?

I posted befor reading the 2nd page. I had thought about trying to do something simular after someone totaled my Bandit a few yrs ago. The subframe was bent over. But after a closer look I found where other welds were cracked. So I just ditched the whole frame picked up a 2000 frame on ebay and started over.

I was wondering how long it would take you to put the 600 motor in. Sounds like a legal lt. weight @ fasttray..aye. If its legal for one it should be good for you too.

Is that the blitz headlight you put on ? If so how much , Im thinking that might be an idea for me . Did you get the white one and just spray it flat black ?

You missed your 2 week deadline though!

Just out of curiosity, have you thought about an extended swingarm? Looking at your pics I'm not sure if it'd suit better or not, might be cool though.. As for fork conversion, I'd do it!! Older GSXR USD forks (not sure which year - but a well documented bandit mod on the net as you probably already know) would give you a much better look & ride, etc.

got any updated pics?

I bought an Acerbis Blitz headlight fairing off of eBay for cheap. The guy has a bunch of them in silver only.

The only downside is that the fairing doesn't come with the mounting straps (which you can buy from an on-line dealer for about $ 6.00 or fab your own).
It's pretty easy to spray the plastic a different color if needed (sand, mask if needed, spray with plastic specific paint, enjoy.)
