Update Q for ZenMan

Z,

Now that you've got some miles and hours on the 1250, are you still not having any issues with the 100W bulb?  I've delayed buying/installing one due to laziness mostly.

Actually I have had no issues at all with the new bulb.... but keep in mind, I ride mostly in daylight on lo-beam, and use my hi-beam mostly for flashing cagers. The few hours I've ridden at night, no problems.

This just might be one thing you'll have to take a chance on yourself, instead of waiting for others (like me) to take the risk. Hell, it's only $12 bucks.... what are you scared of?   :bandit:

I edited my above comment about linking info. When you find ideas for mods on one board and then post about them on another, it's good form to at least provide a link back to the original source.

It's not so much getting credit that I care about, it's just that the more folks you point our way, the more folks will see Bandit Alley as a good source of info for all things Bandit... thus improving our reputation and increasing membership.

More membership means a larger pool of knowledge to draw from and share with our Bandit brethren... it's what it's all about y'know?  :bigok:

Will probably try to find a bulb and try it out.  I usually run with the high beams all the time, mostly due to the fact that the dumba$$est drivers in the US are here in Oregon.  A dude on "another" board, other than the one you reference, ran a 100W in an SV (I think) and it burned his unit out...thus my concerns.

Whenever I post info from one board to the next, I tend not to name the other board...I've noticed that my threads that list another board by name get removed, not only the m/c boards, but other industries as well.  And, you'll notice that I didn't take credit for the great ideas.

It seems the management at the other board doesn't like people to link to this one.
IMHO, we should be friends, not enemies. No one is making a living off either of these sites, so it's not like there's competition for livelyhood..

Way I see it, there's no harm in sharing information. If I link something and they remove it, well, the post and info gets lost and I just won't post stuff anymore.

I understand where you're coming from, Sky... but if they remove your post because of a link here, why would you want to hang around a place like that anyway?

I started out over there but got kinda tired of the attitude and the constant D.W. ass-kissing, so now I just look in every once in awhile. I'm not saying they're a bunch of A-holes or anything, folks are nice enough. But this board is much more laid-back and relaxed, more of a family atmosphere.  :bigok:

BTW I saw the post about the SV... I believe it was his hi-lo switch that went out. I don't know how the bulb would have caused this, seems to me the circuit would be protected and the worst that could happen is you'd pop a fuse.

But what do I know?

I am assuming that we are talking about the MS site.  I just found it yesterday.  After reading the thread that I saw there- I don't see how skyrider did anything wrong.  It isn't like he copy/pasted your write up.  He mentioned that he got the idea from another board(though yeah i woulda prolly said what site- not knowing the admins demeanor about mentioning other resourses), but he done his own write up- with his own pictures.  I see no foul there IMO...

I kinda like it over there, as with DW being on there you get to read the progress on his product line(which is where I plan to get my stuff from.  But I do love this place for the comraderie more so than the other....but the other site has alot of 1250 info.

It sux that people that run sites have to be competitive.

I have no problem with anyone copy/pasting any of my write-ups, or sharing any info between boards. I just think Bandit Alley should at least get recognition for ideas we post here.

It's common journalistic etiquette to credit sources.

We are a Bandit-only site, and MS deals with many Suzuki's... they are much bigger and have no reason to be jealous of us. I agree there should be no competition, but that's their attitude, not ours.

And it would have been nice if Sky would have also posted his handguard pics and installation here for us to see too, dontcha think?

I thought I explained this and apologized to Sky already...

No apologies needed here!!

I attempted to post some pics of the handguards and also of some saddle bags I have on the 1250.  But, I was unable to do it.  I have to say, if it can be done, it's not a very intuitive process.  A lot of the boards that I use (and I'm not even sure what MS uses) are powered by vBulletin.  I know nothing about setting up a board, but on those that use vBulletin, linking pics/stuff is very easy.

Well, not ALL Suzukis. Just Bandits, Katanas & DRs with a smattering of old skool SACS powered Gixxers.

^^LMAO!

I just thought by your reaction that it was going to be a copy/paste thing when I saw the thread over there.  I felt compelled to post my thoughts- no offence meant for anyone.  I woulda totatally been on your side if that had been the case.

no harm no foul- I just posted my opinion on internet ettequet(sp).
