the business card/camera film trick to clean fork seal
« on: July 19, 2006, 09:36:27 PM »
so...I recently found that ugly oil ring on the top of my right fork, figure it's a leaky fork seal but I'm too cheap/busy/tired to have it properly done....some research time on google revealed that I could possibly stick some business card somewhere to dislodge the dirt that's causing the leak...

how do you do that? does anyone have any tips for me about stopping the leak?

any advice is appreciated, thanks!

cleaning fork seals

Ive seen dirt bike riders take a piece of electrical tape and apply it on a clean fork single strip around just above the seal, compress the forks and it dislodges particles trapped between the seal and the tube.
But I guess it depends on how long or how bad the dirt has been there and if the seal is brittle.
