2nd bad experience with Montreal dealer
« on: April 10, 2008, 08:43:25 PM »
I wanted to change my Bandit 1200 for a V strom. Hey at least I'll be staying with suzuki. Well, unfortunately it won't happen this week end.

First bad experience was when I brought my Bandit to their place for a problem with the front suspension. Mechanic said the suspension was soft but the manager said , no no that's fine, they are soft like that you got no problem. Yeah so what about the play in the forks? Oh that's normal, even the new bikes have it.  None had them of course.  His excuse? oh but they are 2006 models not 2005.  to make that story short.. another dealer fixed my problem.

This time the salesman called me (saw my ad) and goes on the phone, Yeah we can give you the price you are asking (which was a bit low for a private sale but around 1500 more that what every other dealer offered). So of course it sounded too good to be true. But still I went there and started dreaming the whole day for my blue dl 650. There the guy tells me he has a 2007 for a good price (which yes ,was good) but then to say, the value in the book for my bike is 4500 max. Politely I said, I came here cause you told me 5900 I can't afford less than that. He goes yeah but my manager approves the deals. (I did not ask so why did you call me then to say you will give me that price?) I stayed polite and said if I find someone I'll call cause the price is good on the 2007. But I should have just left without saying anything.

How can people be that stupid to think people are that stupid? Of course I'll never buy a bike there and I'll even try to convince people to not even get close to that dealer.

So I'll still be waiting for a private sale if not I get to keep the Bandit and switch bikes next year maybe, when I'll have less debts

I am not sure it's ok to post the name of the dealer on the forum but if anyone in the Montreal area is interested to find out just PM me.

Those folks may not be dishonest, but they are poorly managed.  I'd tell everyone I know about my experiences with them.  As for posting their name here, I don't know that it matters.  And I can't give you an official blessing, but as long as someone is telling the truth, they have the right to name names.

Hey Sven...you are the guy only Canadians talk to? :stickpoke:
Just joking. I was reading one of the posts yesterday night and saw that!
I don't know about not being dishonest. I mean when I had my trouble with the front forks, it could have been a safety issue. Ok I am not a drama queen so I won't exaggerate but it wasn't a pleasant feeling the forks move a bit when braking.  And it was clear the play was in the forks and not at headbearings level.  On the other hand I am happy the bike wasn't fixed there because the dealer who did the repair was much more confidence inspiring.

As for the salesman....the guy clearly did that on purpose. If I had a recording of that conversation I could even twist their  hand into respecting the deal. Isn't a verbal contract still a contract? Ok, he said he was going to take a look at the bike but that he could certainly give me between 5500 to 5900 for my bike. He could have at least looked at my bike and then say, well you know, it's not that clean or the tire has to be changed soon so I can't give you that much. But he didn't even bother getting up from his chair.

I am thinking if I should waste my time and send a letter to the owner of the dealer and to Suzuki canada. But I think it will end up in the garbage at both places. Better use that time to check my valves in the week end

If you want help writing an angry letter, I'll give you a hand. I do write for a living, dontcha know ;)

And as for posting the name of the dealer, go ahead. Being very well versed with libel laws (to make sure I don't get sued writing for the six o'clock news) nothing you have written comes anywhere close to being libelous.
You're not accusing someone of a crime without proof -- you're a customer who had a bad experience.

If you're still not comfortable posting the name on the forum, go ahead and PM me, because I'd like to know.

Must be either Lachine Moto or Laval Moto...not many Suzi dealers around.

Sven...you got more of a swedish name!!

Barbarian, thanks for the offer but I won't write a letter. I am sure it will be useless.  Like I said better spend the time riding! :thanks:

Gooseman no it's neither of them.. Actually I can't really complain of them. I am not sure about Lachine moto....I know I went to a dealer in Lasalle so I don't think it was them. Laval moto, their sale and parts department seem ok, their mechanics i wasn't really satisfied. The time I brought the bike with the suspension problem there was a kid there who did not acknowledge there was one. But he must not have had  much experience so i won't say they are not good. Prestty sure they are better than the dealership i am talking about.

The bad dealer, well bad in my experience is Montreal moto. They are where the 25 and 40 meet on the north side of the 40.

If I ever bring my bike to a dealer there is one I had a good experience with but he's not really next door. It's the dealer in Repentigny, Moto repentigny. I actually would like to change my Bandit for a Strom or a DR 650. If I do the switch this year it will be the DR cause I don't have money for the Strom. If it's next year maybe I'll go for the Strom. I like the Bandit , very nice  bike but  I think it's a bit too heavy for me and too powerful.  I also would like to be able to explore more.
So for the DR I'll probably be go to Moto repentigny see if they got one.  That's my way of thanking them for the good service they offered on my bike even if it wasn't bought there.

Anyways...thanks for listening to my rant. Take care and see you on the road.
So when shhould we organize a ride together? I know it's hard to get together because everyone has their schedule with the job and family but maybe we can work something out this summer

Don't get mad, get even!
Go back to the dealer, talk to the same salesman and work out a deal for the bike.
Let him get all the paper work written up, then say you have to call your wife. Hnag up the phone and then tell him you'l' give him $1500.00 less than what is on the contract. When he does not give you the deal and gets upset, just tell him that your wife has to approve all purchases and then get up and leave!
If tomorrow really is the first day of the rest of my life..........does that mean all the shit I do today don't count?

You know what. It should have hit me to do that when I was there. It would have been fun. But that was 1 year ago. Since then I got my DR. But next time I will think of them :) Hopefully the same salesman will be there!
