Highway 40 Alberta, north of Coleman

Has anyone ridden this route? http://www.google.ca/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Coleman,+Crowsnest+Pass,+AB,+Canada&daddr=50.378751,-114.647827+to:Longview,+AB&hl=en&geocode=&mra=dpe&mrcr=0&mrsp=1&sz=9&via=1&sll=50.044794,-114.309998&sspn=1.331675,3.556824&ie=UTF8&z=9

I've always driven up 22 to get to Calgary but I was thinking that my next trip out that way on the bike that this might be more fun.

Hey Kevin

I've also wondered the same thing...I am always concerned that a bunch of it is gravel? Maybe we'll just have to go find out one weekend.

Lots of gravel going that way. Sure is pretty country though.

Highway 40 and other roads like it are the biggest reason I'd like a dual sport. Lots of fun and really interesting roads in Alberta, but most of them aren't paved.

It has been a long time since I was down that road.  However my memory tells me that only Google steps 13 and 14 are paved. All the rest is clouds of dust and gravel.
There may be some pavement coming out of Coleman, but can't remember and besides things have changed over the last 10 or 15 years.   I know it is really nice in an AIR Conditioned truck.

When I get my dual sport I will try it. NO way my sport tourer is going that way. Not willing to chew up good tires.
Turn the other way, thru Peter Lougheed area and its a nice ride. It is the highest pass in AB so I only do it on warm days as it can get damn chilly thru there.
Once I thought I was wrong...but I was mistaken.
