Been on with a car...

sr78 from ramona to jillian, pretty good lots of traffic
sr243 Banning to idlewild long time ago in an rv, remember switchbacks.

sr74 from i-15 to san jaun capistrano, Nice road.

I went to a few sites and all seemed to steer me to roads but little info.

sr2 from glendale to wrightwood looks interesting on the map..

Will be starting trip in SF, going a little north if there is some worthwhile terrain. Which I am sure there is....

Looking for TIGHT RURAL TWISTIES, the tighter the better, in fact you cannot get too tight. I love switchbacks and other tight turns, and like to be kept interested in between by sweepers.

Trip will be about 7-9 days of riding, and I expect to attempt to ride 400-500 miles a day, using car as a central location for the day...

meaning I want to park car and trailer at a hotel or campground, do 1 or 2 day loops out of location, and move.

Need to end up in San Diego. To drop OL off at airport, and then I will trailer home.

I am from the area just S. of SR2 (Angeles Crest Hwy). My folks currently live in Hesperia which is off of the 15 in the high desert. I started off taking the back road to I-15 and then proceeded down to Cucamonga. I then went West to Euclid Ave and proceeded North to go up into the mountains. While up there, I switched to Glendora Ridge Rd. and road that to Glendora ( http://www.joeberkphotography.com/glendora_ridge_road.htm ). It is kind of a hidden road unless you know about it. From there, I went to La Cañada Flintridge which is the West entrance to SR2. I then proceeded to ride it back to Wrightwood and eventually to the 15 and went home. I was home for 15 minutes and I was ready to do it again. It was a great ride and will do it again some day.

Thats exactly what i am looking for, twisties I would not normally find as good roads on the map, my time in cali will be limited so I wont be able to explore as much so the better informed I am before i get there the better.

I have posted this on many sites and will compile all roads and post them on these boards when done for others to use.

Get a copy of "Destination Highways - Northern California". It has just been released. It has specific road ratings for several hundred of the best M/C roads in Northern California.
You can order it from them at www.destinationhighways.com if you local bike shop doesn't have it.
This series is great. Roads are rated for Twistyness, Pavement quality, Engineering, Remoteness, Scenery and overall Character. Listings for Cafe's, Hotels, Bike Shops, Campgrounds, etc.
Just a great series. Poke around their web site and have a look.

COOL! It's great to hear that edition has finally made it to press. I have the Destination WA & BC books and they are great! I'll have to add this one to the collection!

These roads are in S. Cali and here is another popular area for people to ride. I know people who go to the Rock Store on Mulholland Hwy for a good ride as well.

There are more places further South, but this is the area that I am familiar with. If you go to Arizona, I can tell you about some great riding places as well. In Arizona, some of my favorite places is Prescott, Jerome, and Sedona.

+1 Lots of kool roads around the calabasis\woodland hills\topanga canyon area. Theres stunt rd off of mulholland which turns into a real tight one called saddlepeak rd. Stunt to saddlepeak ends up at topanga cyn heading towards the beach. Topanga cyn is actually an awesome road...although pretty heavily traveled. I live on topanga cyn and they just repaved it bout a month ago. The pavement is in excellent condition! Very smooth with very few imperfections. Early morn is the best time to ride it. Also theres Piuma off of malibu cyn rd. And encinal cyn that splits off of mulholland heading straight to the coast. Encinal is one of my favorites. Not very tight but alot of fun nevertheless. Rock store is a great place to see lots of bikes. Im there every sunday and most saturdays checking out all the beautiful toys before riding.
