I like the hotel. Do you think they might have horseshoe pits?

Matter of fact, they do!  I just got their brochure. They also have a volley ball pit, badminton, grass golf, tetherball, a pavillion, barbeque pits, and plenty of space. Also, apparantly, they are right across the road from Bull Shoals park and a 4 minute walk to the lake.

I'm bringing my flyrod. If there is enough time I want to try for some of those world famous White River trout. I guess we should call and make our own reservations individually?

I called Pine Lodge motel today. They offer 2 rooms with queen size beds, 2 rooms with double beds and 6 rooms with 2 queen or full size beds and a fold-out bed with kitchenettes. When I called one of the queen size bed rooms was already reserved (I believe by someone in our group). I was hoping they had more of the inexpensive rooms. If this is a problem for anyone let us know. If not, I suggest we go ahead and reserve rooms (individually) whenever we're ready as everyone seems to be happy with the location. Anybody wishing/willing to share a room please post up!

As of right now, my wife is planning on coming, so I was hoping to snag a queen bed.

I've been looking at maps and have come up with at least 3 different full day routes and will work out some shorter routes in case anybody doesn't want to or can't do a full day or if we get severe weather for part of a day.

I still need to fine tune the routes I have (look for interesting stops and good lunch places), but when I finish them I'll experiment with my map software and try to upload them to the web.

I'll probably arrive in Arkansas a little early and leave a little late in case anybody wants to extend their stay. It might be a good idea to plan in a 'rain day' just so you can increase your chances of getting at least 2 full days of good riding in. If you don't want to ride more than 2 days, you can always do the tourist thing one day.

Weather is usually mild. Might occasionally dip into the 40's at night. Usually warmer. Day time temps stay cool enough to stay comfortable wearing a leather or textile jacket all day while riding.

I'm out :-(

An interesting piece of work came up and I doubt that I can get out of Atlanta until Friday 1pm. That puts me in the thick of Ozark backwoods driving at 12 midnight. Kinda unsafe after driving 10 hours pulling a trailer.
I hate to miss an opportunity to ride Arkansas during prime season.
Maybe next time around. Y'all have fun and if there is anyway I can figure out how to come out later in the weekend, I'll let you know.

Lloyd, why don't you stay into the following week?  You'd still have some of Sat & Sunday with the group.  then some free ride on Monday.

I only mentioned it as I think that has possibilities. September is getting crowded for me so spilling over into the next week is going to take some
creative scheduling on my part. I hate to miss a trip to Arkansas. It's been nearly thirty years since my last visit. Although it's not the best time of year to flyfish the White River, I'd like to give that a go.

Dammit Lloyd, I sure was looking forward to seeing there! I hope you can work something out. A few of us are planning to stay later if you can make it happen.

The rooms are booking fast, so you may want to hurry and books yours if you already haven't. If you've already reserved a room with a spare bed that your willing to share or are looking to share a room please post up!

Yea, this is killing me. I won't take up a reservation but I will see about working it out.  Not having steady work stinks. I have to take it when it comes along. Maybe a Saturday night through Tuesday morning.
