REDBACK'S ONCE BITTEN RALLY
« on: November 01, 2007, 06:46:29 AM »
Yes it's on again, plenty of advance warning.

14, 15 and 16 March 2008.  At Humula Sports and Citizens Club.  It's around 25km from Tarcutta NSW.

We haven't actually decided on cost, but I reckon it'll be the same as previous years around $15.00.

All the usual attractions, Gymkahna events, beer, Jukebox, beer, Paki, beer, entertainment (paki), beer. There'll be food available as well, BBQ, salads and breakfast (bacon and eggs) on Sunday morning, oh did I mention it's at a Pub so there'll be beer.

This one is a mile stone for the Aussiebandit family.  Not only will myself and the "The Treasurer" be there, but "The Eldest" is planning on putting in an apperance at his first (ride to by himself) rally.  No he's not a rally virgin he's been to a couple of the early Once Bittens and a couple of SR500 Rally's.

B6Mick and "The Minisiter of War" have been the last couple of years and I believe are planning on making it to this one as well.  And I thought that as the yanks have BOSS Rally then maybe we should make this the Bandit Alley Aussie verision.

Well, maybe it won't be a milestone for the Aussiebandit family.  "The Eldest" may not go.  Wagga has the 'relay for life' the same weekend and he thinks he'll do his civic duty and participate in that instead.

While some of you may say think this has upset me, trust me when I say that I hope he doesn't go to the rally.  It's one of the few weekends when "The Treasurer" and myself get without the billy lids.

Sorry for not replying sooner.

Wagga is short for Wagga Wagga - the name of the town I currently (for the last 16 years) call home.  A Gymkahna is usually associtated with horse events with games at Aussie bike rallies it usually includes things like a slow race, burnout (we don't do an official burnt out comp), maybe a show-n-shine.  We include an iron guts event, 'gumboot' throw, condom blowing up contest etc

Merriam-Webster's online dictionary (so easy to type in, I don't even bother to bookmark it - m-w.com) is a wonderful thing!

http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/gymkhana - I even learned he spelled it wrong - and it found it anyway.

gymkhana - a meet featuring sports contests or athletic skills: as a: competitive games on horseback b: a timed contest for automobiles featuring a series of events designed to test driving skill

I've followed along in enough of their threads to know Wagga was short for Wagga Wagga.

And I'll bring a shyte load of homegrown chillis for the iron guts comp.
I love chillis, and these suckers are farken hot, to hot for me to eat straight of the plant.
Even me little curry eating mate at work reckon these units are the best as in the Hottest his ever had.

So meet me at the bar I'll be the bloke resting his nut sack on the bar towel sinkin icy cold beers.

Unbelievable isn't it.  It's supposed to be Autumn not Summer.  Oh well, at least I won't be floating on a couple of inches of water in my tent this year :duh: :duh:

Well another Once Bitten Rally has come and gone.

Unfortunately numbers were down this year, I think there's a couple of reasons, not the least of which was the weather.  Phuck it was hot, 38c each day, so a few people probably figured it was too hot for riding, and I don't blame them, I thought twice about going myself, and I'm only 70km away.

One of the other big factors was Andy from SCUM (South Coast United Mototcyclists) got married, so most of the SCUM didn't go to the Rally.

Paki was de-throaned as slow ride champion.  He was beaten in the second round by Mark on a GSXR1100.  For the record Paki rides a very modifies Harley Dyna Glide.  Mark didn't win though, that honour went to Roger from the Z owners riding a Z1300 - yes big poweful bikes can go slow.

Even though numbers were down on previous years we all still had a good time with lots of beer and other alcholic beverages being consumed.

Just shows rallys don't have to be big to be fun, sometimes the smaller ones are fantastic, and you seem to meet and socialise with more people they don't seem to stay in their own groups like at a lot of large rallys Graham :taz: :taz: :taz:

ok people, The Once Bitten Rally is on again.  Weekend of 13, 14, 15 March 2009.  Same place, same shit.  Oh except this year the bar won't be open 24hrs.  Apparantly the local (Tarcutta) coppers and the Wagga Licencing Squad have said NO!!!!!!!

However, that doesn't stop you from buying some take aways and drinking them around the campsite - I was going to say "around the fire" but in light of what has happened in Vic recently I doubt we'll be allowed to have fires.

Will be there, couldn't miss 2 years in a row.
We are heading off thursday late afternoon, heading to tocumwal catch up with some friends. Then head off from there friday to meet up with You and Janice for the ride to the rally site.

Will rings ya's to work out a meet up time. Just been checking tha maps, looks like about a 2 hr trip from there to you guys, give or take  15 or so. :trustme: And the kinda country out there once one is off the Newell looks like one could just open the throttles just a bit if one fell behind a tad.

Come on any other Aussie gits, its gotta be one of the best small but personal rallies going. Great rides to be had, did Mick mention the cold beer? Some off the nicests motorcycling people around and my god it might be small but they travel for this one, and of course the legend himself Paki. Honest its worth spending 6 hrs on the efen Doome Hwy just to see what this guy gets up too, then again, Mark can hold is own.
